You could always do both. Teams and individuals. Sounds like a perfect evil recipe *Cackles* ;D
I think people would drag their friends in. I have a few writerly friends who would probably enjoy being in a team together. Also people would be more able to manage to stay in for longer I think, because support systems, and people checking in with each other etc.

Well it all seems to come down to who the teams are comprised of, I turn to the faithful GISHWHES model of teams: let people pick their own teams but also have the option of being allowed to be put into a team by you (this will help newbies who may feel intimidated about asking vets to be in a team with them
( ... )

On one hand, I think this is a fantastic idea and fully endorse it. On the other hand, I --
Well, actually, there is no downside. Anyone who complained about all those intersections during Exhibit B will be so scared to sign up that it becomes a moot point.

For me, that would be the downside.
People having fun = great!
But you also have to weigh "Will people show up for this?" element.
If I can get enough people who tell me "Hell yeah!" and promise to grab as many folks as they can to play alongside with them, I'm more than willing to make that the theme of what was previously in my head as "Exhibit C".

Well, I think it's got a shot. Flippant response notwithstanding, the Exhibits pull in the sort of crowd that wouldn't normally sign up for a full Season. (Hi!) And I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge that some folks will sign up and complain anyway. ;-)
I think it could go a lot of ways. (Same teams all season? Changing it up? Intersections required, preferred, meh? Trading of players? Elimination of full teams or lowest vote-getter? Is the finale like the RuPaul All Stars' season, where the teams are broken up for the last round?)
No matter how you spin it, it would be Very New and Different. And I think *that* would entice some folks.

When Fantasy Idol comes out, I fully expect CGR (Complaints per Green Room) to be a trackable stat. Edit: Along with HBI (Hippies Batted In) and FMA (Foot-Mouth Average).
eternal_ot, sorchawench and emo_snal would be on my immediate list of sleeper picks ... I think they'd go early and everyone else would be kicking themselves for not selecting them first. But it's hard, with so many strong writers and competitors here, to rule anyone out!
Lj Idol: Teams mini-season?

Or do you think the veterans would drag their friends in to play with them if everyone *knew* going in that there was a team element?

Sleeper picks that you can get in the third or fourth round that will pay off big?

I think whipchick, lrig_rorrim, bleodswean, and talonkarrde88 would be amongst the very first to be selected.
