It has been over a week since I got my 360 and I am still enjoying it. I am getting adjusted to the 360 controller. The dashboard is really cool. All of the stuff you need is nicely organized in various sections. One thing I like about the 360 is that you can watch various videos explaining what you need to know about the console and Xbox Live. It's also cool that you can watch IGN's Strategize video series featuring 360 video games from the dashboard. I still haven't got a headset yet so I still haven't tried the party feature yet. One thing I think is awesome about the 360 is that you can see what your friends in doing in a particular game. When you see what you friends are playing on the the PS3, It will only say the game your friend is playing. On the 360, It will also say what game mode he or she is playing in the game. I am getting a hard drive when I get paid on Friday. I might also buy a Microsoft points card so I can buy Tetris Splash and maybe another XBLA game. I downloaded the trial for I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT! It's a real fun game so I might get the full game for only 80 points (a dollar!!!!). I am definitely going to download some demos when I get my hard drive. I send my last 2 PS3 Gamefly rentals so I can get 2 360 rentals.
Halo 3: ODST is a Halo game not staring Master Chief. Instead, You play as members of the ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) team. After a EMP blast separates the ODST team as they arrive at New Mombasa, One member of the team has to find the rest of the team and complete their mission. The ODST member known only as The Rookie is the main character you play as. As he finds clues on his squadmates, You play a part of the game as one of the squadmates. There are a couple of vehicle sections give players a chance to take a break from shooting at The Covenant on foot. On the first vehicle segment, I sucked at driving a Warthog (a jeep) and kept crashing into stuff. I did better in the tank and other vehicle segments later in the game. Adam Baldwin and Nathan Fillion provide voices for a couple of the ODST members. As a fan of the TV show Firefly, I instantly recognized their voices. In addition to the Campaign, There is a new mode called FireFight. Firefight is the Halo version of Horde mode from Gears of War 2. You and up to 3 friends fight off wave after wave of enemies. All of the players share 7 lives so you need to work together to survive. Some of the levels feature turrets and vehicles. I have played this mode solo so far and I suck. I need more Xbox Live friends. Also included in ODST is the complete Halo 3 multiplayer experience but I didn't get this bonus disc. However, I have decided to keep the game so this disc and the case should be coming in a few days.
Velvet Assassin is a different kind of stealth game. Unlike MGS4 or the Splinter Cell games, Stealth is basically the ONLY option in the game. The main weapon your character uses is a knife. You must use the shadows to sneak behind your enemies and kill them silently. You will die a lot. Velvet Assassin is basically the 360 equivalent of Demon's Souls. It's all trial and error. I am only at the second level in the game. I might be sending this back to Gamefly soon if I keep sucking.
I am getting Forza Motorsport 3 as my next rental since I'm keeping Halo 3 ODST. It's a racing game similar to the Gran Turismo series. Apparently, the customization options of the cars are really deep.
In 360 related news, I have pre-ordered Halo: Reach. It's definitely safe to say that I'm becoming a Halo fan. I remember typing in a previous entry that I wasn't going to get it. After playing ODST, I am looking forward to Halo: Reach. There will be matchmaking in Firefight in Reach so I never have to play that mode solo in Reach. There are some cool new multiplayer modes that are going to be in this game.
I might have more thoughts on Tetris Splash in my next entry if I get the full game this weekend.
