Dangerous Poetry

Here's one of the things I love about poetry: you can say dangerous things you'd never say anywhwere else, and whats more, you can say it in an interesting and compelling way that makes people wonder instead of making them want to punch you. Here is some of said dangerous poetry.

Dixey Drive

I know kids that live on this street
And I don't blame them
For the failings of their families

But still it says a lot
That, though their houses have
Manicured lawns, hockey rinks,
And river rocks trucked in from points beyond

The sidewalk connecting them
Is mossed over
And cracked

The Elder Statesman

What gives you the right
To put up a sign that says "Private Property"
On a tree
That was a sapling
40 years before you were born?
