I've had an interesting past few days, but I just didn't get around to posting about them.
On Saturday, Mr. Donegan threw a luncheon for everyone to celebrate the store's improved shrink records, which was pretty good for me, since I worked 8 am to 12 pm, and was planning to pick something up at Subway before going to do my volunteering at the library. Mostly it was Italian stuff (ziti, meatballs, sausage), but there were also hot wings (;_;) and pulled pork. I didn't notice the pork until I already had what I wanted, so I didn't try it, but people who had it said it was good.
Earlier, while I was working self-scan, the greeter by the handheld scanners tipped me off that a lady had left without paying while I was helping someone else (Saturdays are always super busy). A quick check of the register showed that she had put in her card, usually a sign that they didn't realize they didn't pay (or finish paying), and fortunately the greeter was able to point out who it was in the parking lot. So I ran out to try and catch her, but by the time I got there, she was already in the car. But she was only backing out, so I was able to get her attention, and when I told her she might not have paid, she was mortified, and came back in and paid.

For dinner on Saturday, I made chicken parmesan burgers, and they turned out pretty tasty. And they were pretty quick to make, which was a plus, considering it took over two hours to get through all the books at the library.

I was supposed to do double self-scan with Teri again on Sunday, but after about a half hour, she was sent to bag, and then to ring on a regular lane. And granted, it was pretty busy. So I definitely could have used a little help. But I managed, and even sold a good chunk of Jimmy tickets.

As for yesterday, I can't believe they killed off Kutner on House! Mom was so annoyed about it that she ranted to Dad about it through half the episode. ;_; Kutner...

I went to the gym a half hour before Mom this morning, so I was getting ready to leave when her personal trainer came up to get me before I left. Apparently, Mom started feeling dizzy, so she wanted me to drive her home. Once we got outside, though, she felt better enough to drive home, but she took it easy the rest of the day, which meant she had to reschedule one of Grammie's appointments. She also ended up sleeping through American Idol.

When I was at work, there was a lady that came in today that asked me for help finding something, but she had a very thick accent, so all I got out of her request was "vacks" and something to do with the chest. So I thought she was asking about Vicks vapor rub. But when I showed her that in the HBC aisles (which are right next to self-scan), she told me that wasn't it, and when she described what she wanted again, she made a motion on her chest that looked like pulling a cord to inflate a lifevest, so I asked if she wanted a safety vest for swimming (since she had a little boy with her), but that wasn't it either. Finally, she mentioned it was for her husband and his chest, and it clicked that she was looking for WAX to remove the chest hair. Unfortunately, Stop and Shop doesn't have a very big wax section, and we only had little strips, so I advised her to go to CVS or Rite Aid. So it goes, I guess.
