Out today

I had today off, so I thought I would go out to Wallingford and do my usual things (the library, Walmart, Michaels), despite the rain. It was only drizzling by the time I got out, but by the time I left Walmart, it was raining hard enough for me to wish I'd brought my umbrella with me. Now, I was also planning on seeing Monsters Vs. Aliens, especially since the movie theater over there just added a couple of 3D screens last week. And I had just enough time to get there when I left Walmart, but when I got to my car, I saw that someone had dropped a couple of housekeys. Since I was right by my car, I dropped off my bags and grabbed my umbrella to turn in the keys. And I made it to the movie and only missed one preview.

Overall, I enjoyed Monsters Vs. Aliens, and I definitely think it's worth seeing in 3D. Most of my favorite parts were just little moments, like Dr. Cockroach building a bomb out of Legos, or mixing drinks. And I sort of feel Insectosaurus' 'death' was cheapened by the commercials showing a scene near the end of the movie with him (her?) transformed. Also, I can't shake the feeling that Gallaxhar's computer system was actually the brain of his wife! I mean, once I saw the brain, y'know? After my experience at Walmart, I decided to bring my umbrella in, even though it was only drizzling again when I got there. Turned out to be a good idea, since it was absolutely pouring down rain once the movie was over. I had thought about going to the mall after the movie, but with all that rain (and predicted thunderstorms), I decided to just go home.

Later on, a very small thunderstorm cell came through, and it started off with one flash of lightning that was immediately followed by thunder. That was the only one that was that dramatic, though.

Tomorrow I'm working from 8 am to 12 pm on self-scan, and then I'll go do my volunteering at the library right after. After that, the rest of the day is free.
