Toot-Toot-Tootsie Hello

I wasn't called back, but I was cast in Tootsie. The stage manager called me Friday afternoon to offer me a spot in the ensemble. He said they haven't assigned all the numbers yet, but I am already selected to have one scene where I will be a character with some lines.

The rehearsals start the weekend I am on vacation, but the stage manager said that won't be a problem. They will be distributing scripts ahead of time so I can study it a bit.

Kevin was also cast in Stage Kiss. He seems happy with his role, although it's not a lead.

My show opens mid-September and runs through early October. His show begins rehearsals in early September and has performances one weekend in late October. We are not going to be seeing much of each other in August and September. I will be doing the set strike on our anniversary!

I am curious to see who else is cast in Tootsie. I knew many of the actors in Fiddler and I wonder if any of them will do continuous shows. I only saw one person I knew at the auditions. They haven't announced the cast yet. They also haven't announced the cast for Stage Kiss yet. Kevin is curious who his costars will be. A bunch of people we knew auditioned, but then a bunch of people we don't know auditioned. Many of them were people from Artistree. The woman who is playing Sarah in Guys and Dolls auditioned for the ingenue role in Stage Kiss. Kevin saw her audition and thinks she will get it. I hope she does because I will be a bit annoyed if Harrison cast a show full of actors who are all Anthony's pets.

I rode both Saturday and Sunday. I managed about twenty minutes both times. Saturday I rode indoors. It was a nice day and I wanted to go outside, but the flies were insane and I was out of fly spray. We bought more fly spray on the way to the barn on Sunday and I rode in the dressage ring. The act of going from the barn to the ring took a few minutes of the ride. I made another attempt to canter that day, but it still hurt. I guess I won't book any lessons with Tara until cantering stops hurting.

We had a nice dinner with Dad for Father's Day on Saturday night. Beth seemed healthier and in better spirits than she has been in a while. Dad was happy to have the children and grandchildren with him for the evening. At some point Penelope is moving to DC and Charles will return to Brandeis at the end of the summer, so he needs to see them while he can. The exciting part of the evening was Lea DeLaria was sitting behind me for much of dinner.
