Ok, ok, I haven't posted to this thing in like a month. Bad me, bad me. (Or as Beyonce would say: "You've been a very very very bad girl, Gaga")

So what's New?

I've inched along with my thesis research. I'm focusing just on the literature review this semester. I'm really struggling to accomplish this because I've become extremely lazy. If I come home and turn on the tv...it's over. I'll watch it until 10 or so, then be like "oh well, guess I'll do that important stuff tomorrow." It's pretty bad. Although after going through what I went through my last two undergrad years (aka...HELL), I probably deserve a bit of a respite. On that note, I have an amazing amount of free time right now with this grad school deal. I chalk it up to the fact that A) I have an awesome adviser that pretty much lets me do my own thing B) I don't have a lot of data to begin the major research right now, hopefully I can get that from DOTD by the end of the month C) I only have 2 classes to worry about....bliss.

Speaking of classes...I'm so major glad I decided to do grad school. I'm learning a crap load more about traffic engineering than I ever learned from the one class in it I had undergrad. I'm definitely learning that there's a little more too it that what I observed from my internship experience. With all this there's always the possibility of PhD...my advising professor is always dropping these big hint like "well, if you stick around this could turn into a dissertation"...or..."you know, if you want to go for the PhD". Flattering...maybe, but I'm not so sure that's really necessary if I just want to go work at an engineering firm. If I was more sure about being a professor, than the PhD would be a no-brainier. Just more to think about

I've been active with the Concrete Canoe team again this year. I served as their resident concrete mix design guru. The canoe was build the last weekend in Feburary and only allowed to cure for 14-days before they started sanding and patching. We removed it from it's mold last weekend. This weekend the team is going to sand, seal, and put the lettering on it. Hopefully we'll be able to "baptize" it before it's debut at the regional conference. This year the conference will be hosted by UNO, and the canoe race will be in City Park (although we haven't been told a specific lake/bayou yet...details, details). Conference is coming up quick though, March 26th is the big day. I think they'll be able to pull it off in time. It VERY nice not being the one ultimately responsible this year as opposed to last year. I could do this mentor thing another year.

I feel like I haven't left BR in quite a while...probably because I haven't. I'm not used to all this staying in one place for so long business. I'm really looking forward to all the conferences and concerts and spring break coming up.
