Finals

Last day of classes was on Friday, and my dead week was the kind that leaves a person dead after the end of it.  I had: 4 homework assignments, 3 projects, and a presentation all due during the course of the week. It was rad, basically.

One of the projects and the presentation was the conceptual design of my senior project. We were given the choice between two projects: designing a dock on the Mississippi river for a barge, or designing a subdivision. My group and I chose the later and we got to spend about 4 weeks determining runoff, flood zones, slopes, open channels, traffic impact, road geometries, and reading the UDC (unified development code) which dictates how neighborhoods (along with every other type of developoment) are to be created. The project also called for lots of AutoCAD time...it was a joy.

So, this weekend, I've spend my free time with the family in Laplace while simultaneously working on completing my research paper that's due either Monday or Tuesday. The one I've been doing on and off all semester...about the Katrina evacuation, but specifically comparing this computer simulation data to the data that was recorded during the actual evacuation. I'm almost done though, and it will be a sweet sweet joy when I am. Coincidentally, could end up being my thesis topic if I decided on grad school at LSU. It would seem like a smart decision since I've already got half a thesis written (basically).

JOBS! I was offered a summer/fall position at ABMB Engineering downtown and I accepted (duh!). They specialize in traffic engineering, but I'm not entirely sure what exactly I'll be doing. I'm sure it will be a little bit of everything though, which is exciting. This also means I'll be staying in the BR again for the summer. This offer will most likely be extended after graduation too, but I'm hoping we can work something out to where I'll still be able to grad school it up if I decided I really want to.

Finals quickly approach! I have one Tuesday, two Thursday, and one Friday. I need to get to studying...yay
