Banana Pancakes
What to do on a rainy day.
Hmmm..
Let me think.
Stay in the house and drink a hot cup of coffee.
Well, Lee Dong Hae and Im Yoona found themselves doing the exact same thing today.
It was only 2:30 in the afternoon, yet it looked like it was already 6 in the evening.
Besides the fact that it was raining really hard, the skies showed black and grey features.
It was super doper far from Seoul’s usual skies.
So white. So clean.
As of the moment, Yoona was in SJ’s dorm right now.
When Dong Hae called her up and invited her there, she didn’t hesitate to come over.
I mean, it’s been weeks since she last saw the face of her “special someone”.
Sitting on the couch, Dong Hae and Yoona were watching a fresh new episode of this afternoon drama in KBS.
They weren’t that hooked to the drama, but that was the only thing that was good to watch right now.
The other shows that were on, were pretty much.. blah.
“Hae, when do you think is the rain going to stop?”
Yoona asked, out of the blue.
Upon seeing the rain fall hard on the whole of Seoul, she was just wondering when it was going to end.
“As much as I’d want to answer your question, Yoong, I just can’t. I mean, I’m not a weather man or something.”
Dong Hae joked, resulting to Yoona’s playful punch.
“Ya, Lee Dong Hae. You don’t need to be a weather man just to know when the rain’s going to stop. You can just give guesses, you know.”
Yoona smiled.
Dong Hae was always like that.
Such a joker.
“Okay, okay.. I don’t think the rain’s going to stop anytime soon. Based on how it’s falling right now, I think it’s going to stop some time tomorrow.”
Dong Hae answered.
Yoona pouted at that.
“Imagine all the kids who want to play outside, but can’t because of the rain.”
She sighed.
At this, Dong Hae patted her head and teased her.
“Choding.”
He smiled.
Dong Hae knew that whenever he called Yoona, “choding”, she’d always get angry.
He was used to seeing her oh-you-didn’t-just-call-me-a-kindergartner expression.
Dong Hae’s teasing resulted to Yoona chasing him all over SJ’s dorm.
It’s a good thing the other SJ boys weren’t there to witness all this, or else, all they’d do is side on Dong Hae and bully Yoona.
I mean, Yoona isn’t called Super Junior’s little sister for no reason, right?
After chasing each other around the room, Yoona got tired and eventually gave up.
“Ya!”
She said, panting.
All Dong Hae could do was stick his tongue out in reply.
“.. And you call me a choding.”
Yoona said.
Upon hearing her ringtone play, Yoona got her phone from her jeans’ pocket instantly.
“Yobosaeyo?”
She answered.
Apparently, SNSD’s manager was on the other line.
He was telling Yoona to go to the SM studios right now because there was an important meeting that was going to happen regarding SoShi’s Japanese promotions.
Nodding to everything her oppa said, Yoona closed the phone right after their conversation.
“As much as I’d want to stay, I’ve gotta go now, Hae.”
Yoona said.
“Huh? Why?”
Dong Hae replied, frowning.
Yoona’s kept him company for about a short period of time only.
“Meeting. You know, Japanese promotions and stuff.”
Yoona replied, wearing her thick jacket.
“Oppa, I promise.. I’ll make it up to you next time.”
She added as she got her sling bag and kissed Dong Hae goodbye.
But of course, Dong Hae couldn’t just let her go that easily.
He held Yoona’s hand in order to stop her from leaving.
“Do you really have to go?”
Dong Hae asked.
“After months of not seeing each other, you seem like you don’t miss me at all.”
He added, acting like the boyfriend craving for attention.
“Awww, oppa. I’m so sorry. You know how much I love you, right? It’s just that.. you know, work is..”
“More important.”
Dong Hae continued Yoona’s sentence.
Yoona felt the sadness that Dong Hae bubbled up inside him right now.
I mean, he wasn’t the only who longed to spend time with her.
“Okay, then. I’ll just stay in the dorm and watch television all alone.”
Dong Hae said, letting go of Yoona’s hand.
Walking to the couch, he sat down, breathed heavily and stared at the TV.
He was expecting that Yoona was going to stay, but when he heard the door close, he felt as if he didn’t seem important to her at all.
Looking back at the door, Dong Hae just sighed.
He was going to wait for months till he sees her again.
But then, the saying “Expect the unexpected” popped in.
“I guess it won’t hurt if I missed that meeting and told manager oppa that I got a cold on the way, right?”
Yoona said, surprising Dong Hae.
Apparently, all Yoona did was go out of the door for 10 seconds, then go back in again without Dong Hae knowing.
“You’re.. indescribable.”
Dong Hae smiled.
As soon as Yoona sat beside him, he put his arm around her.
“I thought you’d replace me for your ‘job’.”
Dong Hae said.
“Of course not. My job is nothing compared to being with my most handsome boyfriend.”
Yoona poked Dong Hae’s cheek.
She was right. Very right.
“I love you, Lee Dong Hae.”
Yoona said, staring into his deep, brown eyes.
“I love you more, Im Yoona.”
Dong Hae replied.
Looking at each other with so much love, their faces were inches from each other and then, magic.
When their lips met, everything was just in place.
But then, Yoona being such a shikshin, cut off their connection.
She could smell something good. Something really, really good.
“Banana pancakes. Where are they?”
She asked.
Dong Hae just laughed, then led her to the kitchen.
“Shikshin Yoong, there are your banana pancakes.”
He said.
Yoona then ran to it and took a bite.
“Are they good?”
Dong Hae asked, walking to her.
All Yoona could do was give him a thumbs up in reply.
“It’s really good. Here, have some..”
She said, giving Dong Hae a spoonful of it.
“I couldn’t agree more. It really is good.”
Dong Hae agreed after tasting his own “work of art”.
“Make sure to make me a lot of this, okay?”
Yoona said, before putting in another spoonful into her mouth.
“Ya, you’re such a demanding girlfriend.”
Dong Hae teased her.
“But, of course, I can make you as many banana pancakes as you want because I love you.”
He added, putting his arm around Yoona and giving her a peck on the lips.
Smiling, laughing, enjoying each other’s company and having a slice of freshly cooked banana pancakes.
That was how Dong Hae and Yoona spent the rest of that cold, rainy day.
