It didn't matter if Katniss was the only one who really knew the happy couple - everyone in her entourage had been invited to the wedding. And honestly, Katniss had never seen Finnick so happy, or Annie so lucid ( Read more... )

It's probably kind of interesting to see the guy who flirted with everything that moved on your TV marry the girl who lost her mind during her own Games.

Jaina didn't go to a lot of weddings. The opportunity was just rarely there, and just about every one she had been to had its own traditions and quirks, which made it interesting.

And it was hard not to be happy for them, even if she didn't actually know them.

Wesley marveled at the ceremony. He'd actually never been to a wedding before, though that didn't stop him from suspecting that this one was quite different from they must be like back home.

The oceanic theme was beautiful, and -- though he suspected it was generally reserved for ceremonies that took place in Four -- served to add a bit of life to the sterile, subterranean District Thirteen.

It wasn't just interesting; it was downright fascinating to Gabrielle, and anyone who sat near her was likely to get subjected to a long, flowery ramble about the miracle that was a moment of happiness in the middle of all the dire, grim circumstances that surrounded them.

Barring that, one young Amazon queen with bardic aspirations would be in attendance, all rapt attention and eyes alight; Finnick and Annie's joy must be infectious.

Gabrielle would argue (if pressed to it) that this wasn't a bad thing at all.

There's places to sit and food! Like, good food! Including a cake! Feel free to notice the artistry behind the cake's decorative frosting flowers, too. Katniss certainly has.

Katniss obviously wasn't allowed to dance today. It was a miracle she'd even been allowed to leave the infirmary. But she did smile faintly as she watched people dance, playing a bit with the flower Annie had plucked from her hair and stuck in Katniss'.

With two glasses of something sparkling in his hands, Wesley came to take a seat beside Katniss. As he passed her one of the glasses, he followed her gaze to the dance floor and smiled. "Beautiful, isn't it?"

"It's just sort of amazing," she said softly, taking the glass. "I mean, now that I know about Finnick, especially. I hope they have time to be happy."

She didn't mean to be so fatalistic. She just was like that.

Finnick, when he took a break from dancing to sit, looked more relaxed and happy than he ever had, particularly during the Games. When he wasn't chatting with someone or eating, his gaze was fixed on Annie, dorky smile in place.

Annie, for her part, was looking far less lost than usual. She did reach for Finnick's hand a few times, a little overwhelmed by the crowd, but she was happy.
