It didn't matter if Katniss was the only one who really knew the happy couple - everyone in her entourage had been invited to the wedding. And honestly, Katniss had never seen Finnick so happy, or Annie so lucid.
Every district in Panem had their own wedding traditions. In Twelve, the new couple toasted bread together over their newly-acquired joint hearth. In Four, it seemed, their traditions were tied to the ocean. Finnick and Annie - who was wearing a borrowed white gown, with flowers woven through her hair - joined hands under a net. Their love was compared to the sea, their life ahead of them to a ship's journey.
Even Katniss, who was largely immune to romance, felt a little tug at her heart as she watched the ceremony. If nothing else, she suspected it was the last time they'd be happy for a long while.
[for the crew in Panem!]
