Canuckleheads!

So, I'm up in Vancouver right now in between shows (Tales performs in Seattle tomorrow...should be big crowd...well, bigger than it has been). After a lengthy, confusing attempt to meet with my friend Emma - which resulted in a 13 minute phone call on roaming charges - we walked around town a bit before she had to go to a dinner party. We stopped in a little fast food version of a major chain restaurant, The unfortunately-named White Spot, to use the restroom. This was their key:

On the other side it said Canucks. As we left, I asked Emma, "They really like the Canucks here, huh?" She then stared at me.

"You didn't hear?"

"Hear what?"

She stared a little more and looked around. Then in a hushed voice, "I can't believe I'm saying this. I hope no one hears," with embarrassment, as if the secret hockey police were going to take us away. "They are going to finals of Stanley Cup. They won yesterday. The city is freaking out because it's the first time 14 years."

Oh. Okay. That's nice for them. She also said they are expecting riots whether they win or lose. I said, "So, it'll feel like your back in LA, then!"

Then Facebook exploded (once I had a wireless connection...I hit the $50 mark on roaming charges pretty quick and had to use only WiFi after that), that the Bruins had also won. Took me a second to remember they were the Hockey team, of course. It's been a while.

So, my boys from Boston are pitted against the city I am currently sleeping in. I am suddenly caring.
