Oh the Injustice

Ever since I got my iPad mini two years ago, I've been dedicated to the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game. While I've dabbled with other games, this is the one that I play with the most and have continued to do so. It's easier to pick up than a console game and because it's on an iPad mini, it's convenient to play when I have time on my hands. While I am into Lego adaptation games, I find playing Injustice Mobile gives me a better insight into parts of gamer culture.

One of them being platform wars. xbox 360/One vs. the ps3/4 is the console version. Android vs. Apple seems to be the mobile version. When I was considering a tablet, one of the things I considered what was would be available in their corresponding stores. These days it doesn't matter as much because if something's available for Apple, it won't be long before it's available for Android but back then Apple had a couple years head start when it came to app stores.

If I was to choose today, I'd still go with Apple because I know code-wise, it's easier to make an app for Apple since there's only one type of device (three if you really want to argue the differences between the iPad, iPod and iPhone). Android is picked up by a variety of devices, which means more coding is needed. Therefore if there's an update needed, the Android one will take a while especially if the company in question has a small dev team. I have learned from observation that this type of reasoning won't work on a number of gamers. Or as Shawn and M have put it: there are gamers you will never be able to please. They live to complain even though they'll play the game.

I'm a completionist but I'm also cheap. It's a free-to-play or micro transaction game but I've never spent a cent in it. I know the logic behind these games is to prey on a gamer's impatience but since I don't have any other games I'm into, I have all the time in the world to play it slowly. That's really my end goal is to have everything done in the game and I have the time for it. The dev team has stated that they would keep working on the game as long as there's interest. I don't really believe that's the exact case.

Injustice 2 is supposed to be out in 2016. At the rate the tie-in comicbook is going, it will probably end in 2016 since it's on year four now and there's five years of storytelling. It will probably be done year four by the end of this year, probably in the fall. There will be a break for a couple weeks and then year five would be released to coincide with the countdown to Injustice 2. After Injustice 2, there might be news or hints of Injustice 3 depending on how well the sequel does. From what I've seen of NetherRealms' other mobile game tie-ins, they usually stop updating about six months after the console game is released unless the mobile game could be used for the sequel.

The mobile game is not tied by the update fees that Sony and Microsoft charges per console update and there's an unlimited amount of character cards that could be added to the game. As the 2.0 update showed, the dev team is not against going outside of the console skins since the mobile game got Green Lantern Sinestro and Batman Returns Catwoman. We also ended up getting Static, Darkseid and Cassandra Cain Batgirl, of which I suspect all three might have been leftovers from the console game that the dev team recycled for the mobile game. I remember reading about the game polls for the next DLC character and that Static was in a close race with Zatanna. Also that Darkseid was in the early concept of the game.
