Lining the Red Eye

Previews of holiday make-up have come in but I'm not really seeing anything catch my eye except for Nars, one of the few marques I have yet to try out. Guerlain and Givenchy did make little dings on my radar but most of my attention is turned Nars with their pretty little flower palette and brush set. It's the Japanesque theme that has caught my eye given my love to decorate with Far Eastern flare. Speaking of which, I went back to the Armani counter to get two more item: Blushing Fabric and Rouge d'Armani, both in Scarlatto:

I rarely wear blush, mostly because I can't seem to get the hang of it, but the Blushing Fabric is versatile in its uses. It would look great as an eyeliner on the upper lids in a maiko fashion but because of the liquid texture and my oily eyelids, I need something to anchor it down. I think my doppelganger and I will be tackling this along with figuring out how to make kohl eyeliner. At the moment, I think if I mixed the Blushing Fabric with a gel eyeliner or something similar, it should be thick enough to stay on. Mixing it with the lipstick worked to an extent, so maybe the combination of all three?

There's always the possibility of using the Lady Dior palette but I'm not yet brave enough to spoil the design just yet. Last time I checked, the last two of the palette had already sold out so I really was trotting up to the counter with a horseshoe. There's also the Eyes to Kill palette in Red Iron as the darker shade of Scarlatto might tone down the bright red terracotta shade. If I'm using a regular gel eyeliner, my best bet would be a black or dark violet colour as to not change the colour like what would happen if I used green or blue or the shade like brown would to a hue reminiscent of bruises.

Now I'm sure there are people out there who would be wondering if red eyeliner would actually work and look good. Yes but like red lipstick, the look must be very clean and crisp. This means no forgivable smudges and the proper use of brushes. It's fussy and time-consuming but done properly, it's strikingly pretty. If there's anything I've learned with make-up, when the guys start to notice, we take notice!. I tried the red eyeliner with red lips yesterday and M found it to be a very pretty. look. M's tastes runs to more classic and clean-cut looks, so when he likes something, it's something to catalogue for those off days where I want to spruce myself up.
