It's difficult to get into the "holiday spirit" when you're lying on the beach. There are little kids running around in santa outfits and plastic christmas trees at many stores and restaurants, but seeing a sign that says "merry christmas" doesn't really bring on that december feeling. I think it's something about a cold nose and wet shoes that make me excited for a day i don't really like anyway.
