Marta was really starting to hate this place. After all, how did a house just suddenly disappear? It just didn't make any sense--not that anything int his house did make sense. Who'd ever heard of a house that pulled in people from other worlds and where monsters and ghosts lurked the halls at night? Well, when there were halls, anyway. Right now there was just the island and it's residents, none of whom she was familiar with. She'd never been a shy girl and large social gatherings were hardly foreign to her, but she couldn't help the pang of homesickness that came with watching as the residents clumped together and formed their little groups. Even if she knew it was horrible think to wish upon anyone, she couldn't wish that somebody she knew was here--even somebody she'd met in the house, even Zetsu would have done--, but she couldn't see anyone and she didn't think it to be polite to force her way into another person's conversation so suddenly ( ... )

It really was her. Emil's face brightened as he took in the familiar sight--it had been a long time since he'd seen any of his friends, and the worries he'd been mulling over and dragging with him for the past hours started to drop away as he ran. Before he knew it they'd met together somewhere in the middle, Emil veering to the right at the last second to avoid a full-on collision in his rush ( ... )

Marta slowed before coming to a complete stop, listening to what he had to say but not quite hearing most of it, overwhelmed by the rush of emotions that came with seeing him again. He was here and he was alive. Not a core, not just the lock that would seal the Ginnungagap...the Emil that she'd come to know and love during the journey they had shared. Even with him right in front of her, she still couldn't believe it. Just to be able to see him again--she was so happy, happier than she'd been in months, but it also stirred up all the guilt and sorrow that she'd bottled up, that she tried to pretend didn't exist just so that she could go on with her life, so that she could keep her promise to him.

She wanted to throw herself at him, to embrace him and she wanted to tell him how much she'd missed him, to apologize for back then--even though she'd promised herself that she wouldn't let herself be useless, in the end she hadn't been able to do anything for him, but she did none of these things, instead choosing to hold her position and ( ... )

"A week?" Emil sighed in relief. It wasn't good that she was here, but at least she hadn't been stuck here as long as he had. "I've been here for a long time. I think it's been more than two months now. I've been so worried! I'm so sorry I disappeared on you suddenly like that. I didn't expect for this to happen. So much must have happened without me! Richter, and the Vanguard, and..." He trailed off, averting his eyes to the ground. The reminder of what he'd left behind clashed with the excitement of finding a friend again, and the elation he'd felt upon finding Marta gradually dissipated ( ... )
