"A week?" Emil sighed in relief. It wasn't good that she was here, but at least she hadn't been stuck here as long as he had. "I've been here for a long time. I think it's been more than two months now. I've been so worried! I'm so sorry I disappeared on you suddenly like that. I didn't expect for this to happen. So much must have happened without me! Richter, and the Vanguard, and..." He trailed off, averting his eyes to the ground. The reminder of what he'd left behind clashed with the excitement of finding a friend again, and the elation he'd felt upon finding Marta gradually dissipated.

Two months. Two months he'd been gone. Whatever had happened with Richter, he probably still hated Emil, and Emil deserved it. What had gone on without him? Richter had to be up to something. He hadn't taken control of the Vanguard for nothing--but no, maybe that was part of a plan to take revenge for Aster? Emil had no idea what could have taken place in his absence. He raised his head again slowly, and this time seeing Marta reminded him of how he'd left: doubtful, confused, and numbly horrified at the possibility that he could have been using Marta and his other friends all along. Worried about Richter and what he was planning. Trying to compare sixteen years of memories and his sense of self against a dream of a memory as somebody he wasn't supposed to be.

But Marta didn't seem as worried. Something about her was a little off, but not in the way Emil had expected--frantic, shocked, maybe angry. Instead she was calm and friendly, like they'd gone separate ways and just hadn't seen each other in a while. And that was true, they hadn't, but there was something else to her manner too.

He tried thinking back to Marta's words. She'd been here for a week, she'd said. She'd missed him. But there was more than that, a comment that had nudged at Emil while she spoke and vanished when he turned his mind to other things. Something about...their world? Yeah, that sounded like it. Something about how there was nobody else from it--but that didn't make sense, because there were other people all around them. Where else would they be, the moon?

Them again, this was an island in the sky. Maybe she knew something he didn't. "Marta, what do you mean? Are you saying we're the only people from Sylvarant here?"
