Marta slowed before coming to a complete stop, listening to what he had to say but not quite hearing most of it, overwhelmed by the rush of emotions that came with seeing him again. He was here and he was alive. Not a core, not just the lock that would seal the Ginnungagap...the Emil that she'd come to know and love during the journey they had shared. Even with him right in front of her, she still couldn't believe it. Just to be able to see him again--she was so happy, happier than she'd been in months, but it also stirred up all the guilt and sorrow that she'd bottled up, that she tried to pretend didn't exist just so that she could go on with her life, so that she could keep her promise to him.

She wanted to throw herself at him, to embrace him and she wanted to tell him how much she'd missed him, to apologize for back then--even though she'd promised herself that she wouldn't let herself be useless, in the end she hadn't been able to do anything for him, but she did none of these things, instead choosing to hold her position and let him finish speaking--she loved the sound of his voice and it'd been far too long since she'd heard it--feigning normalcy the best she could. He seemed so concerned and for as much as everything had hurt her, she knew that Emil had been the one to suffer most of all. Forcing her problems on him would have just been selfish, and that wasn't how she wanted her meeting with him to start.

"Yeah, it's...been awhile, hasn't it? I've missed you, too..." She said, a small, sad smile appearing. God, this was hard... "N...o, I think it's just us. I haven't seen anyone from our world here, and I've been here for about a week. What about you, how long have you been here?" She kept her voice as leveled as she could as she spoke, something that got easier as she went along. And for once she found it easy to swallow the tinge of jealousy that came with him showing what was (in her mind) exorbitant concern for another female. She didn't get why he was asking about her specifically, but she didn't care enough to press the matter. She was sure there was a reason for that. Besides, he'd said he'd missed her, even with everything that'd happened and well, that was enough for her.
