I am in a random mood of happy.
I feel good today. Like, really, really good. I don't know why. I just... I woke up today actually feeling rested (which was odd, I got no more sleep than usual) with plenty of time to get ready and have some coffee and watch a bit of the news and check my email. I grabbed a Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks on the way to class (I'm addicted), wrote a little fic that I'm really happy with during Geology (I've been studying this stuff since I was a Junior in High School, this course is basically a refresher so I can pass the test), and started to feel like I was really starting to get the hang of some of this stuff in my music theory class (you have no idea how hard theory is for me, and how much I hate it).
I took a walk outside and the weather was perfect. I got some shopping done, including a Christmas gift for my SarahFo, tickets for a surprise for Beth Ann when she comes down the weekend after next, and a Detroit Tigers wall calendar for next year (that one was for me).
Cute Boy who saw me trip on the stairs yesterday flirted with me today. I rearranged the furniture in my room, and I like it a lot. I've written about ten of my holiday cards. My ipod (on shuffle) put Billy Boyd's cover of Baby One More Time right after the original.
The Wayne State Holiday Lighting was last night, and it was surprisingly fun. I'd gone alone, expecting to just hang out in the back and watch, but I ran into this girl (Rose) from my World Music class, and we hung out together. We get along really well. For the lighting, there were random groups of people (like the Ghafari Hall RAs) who sang carols, and the dance team did a routine. Then, they lit up the lights, which were strung along the arches in front of the library and the trees in Gullen Mall. It was pretty. Holiday decorations always make me really happy. I think that's why I start listening to the music in November. Something about the holiday season just makes me feel light and loved.
This afternoon I saw a bunch of boys in the mall tossing around a football. I didn't know college kids really did that, outside of the movies. But there they were, in their sweats and t-shirts and track jackets. One of the boys, this tall, gangly thing, was really bad and it made me giggle.
For the second year in a row, I didn't finish nano (yes, I'm giving up on the 29th), and I'm okay with that. Last year, I did abysmally, and this year, I did much better, but picked a bad plot. I've already got something fun in mind for next year, though, and I'll keep trying.
Despite being really busy lately, I just... feel really, truly good. I can only remember feeling this good a handful of times in my life. I suppose I won't question it.
