Midwest Bearfest 2006 Part II: Saturday and Sunday

Dec 31, 2006 16:12

It's a bit longer than I expected, but I wanted to get all of it in....

Jim and I woke up around 10:30am on Saturday. The schedule for the day was pretty light in activities, so we just decided to spend the day relaxing by the pool for a while and just resting.

We made our way down and immediately ran into Philcmhphil and Don, Bobbycmhcub and Bourne, and Wayne cachorro34. We got in the hot tub and we sat and listened for a while. The hot water was getting to me, so I got in the pool for a while. There, I ran into Dan irishchub and his bf, Craig. There were a lot of good eye candy all around which made for a good afternoon.

Eventually, a game of volleyball started going. Unfortunately, I decided to play on the deeper end of the pool, so I basically was not very good. Dan, Craig, and Wayne were also playing. It was fun. No score was really kept, just harmless fun playing with balls. After a couple of hours of fun by the pool, I decided to get out, get a shower and walk around some more.

I made my way to the vendor area, where I laughed a bit with Williamshelbycub and eventually got a few items. I ran into Jim there and we chatted for a while. He then striked up a conversation with Gabriel (remember my hot bear strip poker player?). Anyway, I said hello and Jim and Gabriel continued talking. I turned away for a moment and when I looked back, Jim and Gabriel were lip-locked. Gabriel then excused himself, saying he was going to "take a nap." Jim came up to me and said he was going to do the same thing. Uh-huh...right. I told to have fun and then went on with what I was doing...hehehe

After all that, I stopped by the pool to watch a poorly planned "wet bear" contest and checked out more eye candy. Then, I ran into Clay again. Poor guy was running ragged volunteering and such. He was at the run, but I don't think he was having a good time. It just showed me how much effort is put in behind the scenes to make the runs fun for (almost) everyone. Granted, you can't please them all, but it's good for the most part.

Soon, dinner was served. They had a whole roast pig and other deliciousness for us to partake in. I saw Jim again and we ate together. It was a good dinner. When that was done, we popped over to the other room for Brown Bag Bingo. The concept is basically bingo with prizes in brown bags. It was meant to be funny with a little white-trash humor, but it ended up being a little frustrating. The host, Dink, was funny for the most part, but a lot of his jokes and snide comments were taking away from the game itself, making it hard to understand when numbers were being called and just taking a lot of time. Plus, the mad dash for certain prizes also took a lot of time. However, it was decent. I sat across from a cutie named Stephen from St. Louis. I had met him at Bear Camp and it was good to hang out with him again.

Bingo ended and I went and changed clothes. I decided to get back into my kilt. It was popular the night before, plus it's really comfortable. I got back down in time for the finals of the Most Huggable Bear contest. It was enjoyable. William was funny and the contestants were all pretty good. I am happy with who won, although I must admit that I felt that his answers to the questions were faked and far too rehearsed. But, they sounded good. Plus, he's rather woofy! ;-)

With the contest over, there were a couple more events: the strip poker finals and a boxers dance DJed by William. I was contemplating doing both and ended up watching the finals. George, the winner from my table, ended up being in 2nd place, losing to a gorgeous musclebear. It was kinda fun watching. After that, William started the music and the dance floor opened.

I ended up going back and forth between my room and the dance floor. There was decent crowd still gathered by the pool, including a couple of guys I had met earlier. One of them, a black musclebear, called me over to him. He decided to tell me that he wanted to inform me that my walk (my arms moving left and right as opposed to up and down) was feminine. He proceeded to show me the "proper" way to walk. Now, the reason he claimed to do this is because "he didn't want people talking about me." Well, excuse me, but what right do you have to talk about someone else? AND then, what the fuck do you think you're going to accomplish by pointing this out in front of this entire group of strangers?!? It reallly pissed me off, so much to the point that I retreated to my room before I let it get to me. Jim was resting up in the room and I just needed some time to calm down. I was seriously pissed, almost to the point that I wanted to stay up in my room. But then I realized that it was stupid of me to let this idiot make me feel less than I am. I decided to changed into some lounge pants and made my way to the dance.

Earlier the dance had been a little dead, but when I came back it had definitely picked up! Believe it or not, bears like to dance and it's fun to watch and participate as well. I danced around with Max (Ms. Tore-Up-onto) and Chris, a sexy black bear from Pittsburgh. We all had hung out earlier in the evening drinking a bit and it was great dancing with them. I also danced and grinded with Gabriel a few times, which included several short make-out sessions. WOOF! I guess he was into me after all, huh? ;-) I saw several others I knew grinding to the tunes that William spun. Rob rcthebearcub and Terry svtcobrafreak were also there along with Wayne and others. It was awesome to see it all.

One of the greatest sights to see was Roger aadroma. I have seen him on LJ for a while and I was just in awe. There he is, this short fella, and he was just dancing up a storm. It was amazing and it made me admire him so much. I got to dance with him as well. It was amazing.

Jim even made an appearance. He had rested up and came down. He eventually ran into John from Cleveland. I had seen his Bear411 profile (with his partner, Gerry), so we both eventually talked/flirted/made out with him.

After dancing for almost a solid 2 hours, my body was begging me to stop. I figured I'd stop by the afterhours area and have a little more wicked fun. I ended up having a GOOD time. I stayed until past 4am, then made my way up to bed and joined Jim. I was exhausted (and obviously so)! Sleep came easily.

Sunday was pretty brief. Jim and I got up, showered, dressed and checked out of the hotel. We ran into John again, who was waiting his shuttle to the airport. He got a call from his partner Gerry and he described Jim and I on the phone. I think he approved! hehehe. Jim and I said our goodbyes to him and a few others leaving for home before heading to the brunch and gift exhange.

Due to the sheer amount of people at the run, the brunch and gift exchange overflowed into two rooms. It was a good brunch and good company. We ran into Stephan and Mel, two local guys I had met at Bear Camp and we both met at Furgasm in Cincy. Mel had been running around for most of the run, so we all never had the chance to really sit down and talk. It was good to see him actually relax.

We eventually made our way into the other room for the gift exchange, sitting with Phil, Don, Todd and others. It was a long process, but a lot of fun. I got a cool t-shirt and some chocolate. Jim got a cute pride bear ornament. Another note is that Gabriel picked the gift I brought: A special edition DVD of Mommie Dearest! ;-) Hehehe, I told him and we hugged and kissed a little bit.

After all was said and done, it was time to head out. We said our goodbyes and made our way back to Cincy.

It was a great run overall. Although I think there should have been a few more activities on Saturday and maybe some music by the pool (or something), it was still a lot of fun. I met so many great people (and apparently got eyed by several more). It was great reconnecting with several people I've met over the year and then some. We had a good time overall, so it was quite the success in our opinions.

I hope everyone has an excellent New Year's Eve and Day!
