Great Ocean Road - Port Fairy to Robe

Mar 17, 2009 15:19

The road started to move inland at this point, and the terrain was a lot more farmy.

We stopped off when we saw a sign to a seal colony - it was only an hours walk there and an hour back, and it was ace to get a bit more exercise. It was pretty hilly, I think I enjoyed the walking a bit more than Iain did. It was SO worth it when we got there though - there were loads of seals in the water, bobbing around and doing sealy stuff :)

We also stopped off at a what was called the Petrified Forest, but turned out not to be forest related at all - it was a bunch of very wierd looking rock formations that kinda looked like fossilised forest. It looked like something off of Star Trek, but much wierder! Reckon they should have filmed Star Trek there - might have been better than just painting a bunch of rocks red or whatever!

We also visited a lake in an old volcano, which was bright blue. It was pretty, but we didn't stay long - it was dinner time! On to Robe where we got delicious chinese takeaway, and another lovely bottle of wine - mmmmmmmmmm!
