It's the local economy, stupid

OK, done my taxes, hopefully arranged for some more housecleaning for Friday (although some of the places I called haven't gotten back to me), and took fifteen minutes to spam my CV all over Perth ( Read more... )

I had something similar happen last time I went job hunting. Spent Saturday spamming my CV to every job site I could think of. Early morning on Monday: *ring ring* "Hello, I've just seen your CV on foo.com and have an offer for you..."

Um, could you elaborate on exactly what you did with Google to strip the emails? Cause I'm going to be looking for a new job in a new area soon, and that sounds like an excellent way to go about it. Or would, if I knew how to do it.

So any elaboration/explanation would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just punched in the search terms "Email" and the domain name. It will return a whole bunch of results where anyone has written something like "send email to jobs@fred-the-recruiter.com", and given that there are usually a LOT of such results scattered all over job-advertising sites, you end up with a list of addresses like:

bill.smith@fred-the-recruiter.com
jenny.jones@fred-the-recruiter.com
info@fred-the-recruiter.com

It's the ones without personal names that you generally want. They might be resume@, jobs@, info@, etc. Some places will have mailboxes for each city or area, so there might be something like ohio@ or ohio-jobs@, that sort of thing.

Another tactic if there's no obvious match is to do the search but include the state or largest city near to where you want to work as an extra search term. This will net results for lines like "This job is in Pennsylvania, so send your CV to kay.johnson@fred-the-recruiter.com", where one person handles everything for a given region.
