Saw Get Smart and Kung Fu Panda. Both had their giggle moments and their 'COOL!" moments. Both had a rough theme of the newbie winning out over the experienced. And both had just that one too many fat jokes - after a while, it wore a bit, uh, thin.

Get Smart had just that little too much Mel Brooks in it. A bunch of jokes and their timing were straight out of his repertoire, but they didn't always mesh that well with the source material, and would have done better in some other movie, possibly a straight comedy that wasn't also trying to be a spy movie, a homage to a 1960s TV series, and a parody of spy movies in general. It was a little jarring.

Kung Fu Panda, on the other hand, was unashamedly all about the AWESOME. The hook for me, though, was the throwaway shot of Po's action figures. He was just so much a fanboy that you had to cheer for the poor bastard even when he was getting the noodles kicked out of him. A bit of a pity that the Five weren't developed that much, though. Even surprising, given the celebrity voicing on several of them.

A dash back home after the movies made me only a few minutes late for an hour of Pilates. Which wasn't too bad. I'm still on the same beginner-level exercises I was when I started, but now I can get through them without too much trouble, and I can actually walk afterwards instead of having to lie down for ten minutes. Still weak in core muscles and nonpreferred arm, though. Oh well.
