Well, guitar is coming along. There's at least one tune I'm almost starting to be able to play without having to glue my eyes alternately to the tab and the strings. Progress!

Today was the town hall meeting for the music school, to see whether they can keep their digs. The school principal hadn't gotten back from it by the time I'd finished up, so I guess I'll hear the verdict on Friday. At the moment, I'm kind of assuming there's about 2/3 chance they'll be booted, mainly because if they'd used any of the usual political channels to bypass the issue, it never would have come up. Unfortunately, they don't have an established reputation, they don't know anyone either on the council or with influence, and they don't have the kind of money which says "We'll upgrade your neighbourhood just by being here."

This means that it comes down to a paperwork/complaint brawl between the fledgling school and any established local citzens with a beef. And the easiest way to solve those and make the voters happy is by sticking to the status quo and ruling against the newcomer.

It doesn't help that the school principal is twenty-something, and all the teachers/tutors I've seen are not only younger than that, but apparently only doing this part-time. The academy has all the presence and solidity of dandelion fluff.
