*giggle* I'm so happy I can't stop smiling today. :D
I've actually been in a fairly poor mood for the last several days. Just couldn't get motivated, and I had a heart-to-heart last night with Bear concerning how no projects ever seem to get completed around the house. We agreed today that we would start off first thing in the morning on the laundry room pipes and work until they were completed.
We got up around 8:30 and planned out exactly what we would need. We knew that Lowes opened around 10, so we headed over there at opening to grab the parts. Coming back, we realized that we had a wrong size for one of the parts and thus we went back to Lowes again to remedy the sitatuion and then went home to get started on the project. We started the actual project around noon, cutting the pieces to size and dry fitting them in place. I really wasn't happy with the way that the cold water lines turned out. There was too many small parts fitting together with too many elbows, but the way the old pipe was set it was the only way for us to mount it. So, I dawned Bear's leather gloves, the flux, and a wrench while Bear grabbed the torch and the sodder. After each joint, we would go back and check the piece to make sure that none of the joints moved on us. After soddering the last two joints Bear turned on the cold water.. No dice. One joint..the last one on the cold water line that was soddered, was leaking like no sodder had gotten into the back of the joint. I felt around the back, water was pouring out. Grrr... So, back to Lowes to get a few more parts (thank goodness it's only a few blocks away). When we got back, Bear reheated the joints and pulled out the bad joint. Since the joint was bad anyway, we talked and decided the best course of action was actually to cut the water line in a different place. Bear heated the bad joint first to get rid of the pieces that weren't going to work and then the pipe was cut in both the new and old lie. The ultimate goal was to make the cold water line much more elegant with less joints (less joints means less likihood of a leak). We were able to do this! And after soddering the joints, found that the cold water line was now good!! YEAH!! The hot water didn't have *ANY* leaks whatsoever. DOUBLE YEAH!! So, I'm completely estatic now! And we didn't take *ALL* day to get it done either.. Even with the lil' set back we had, we were done by 5:00 pm. I still need to do the drywall around the pipes, but I figured I would get this done next week. I want at least a week of exposed pipes to verify that there won't be any leaking issues.
Rest of the night was very pleasant as well. Since we were feeling good, we headed out for dinner. We ate at a place called Bombay Marsala. The food was decent, however they had towned down their food for American consumption. It just wasn't as spicy as it should have been. But, it was decent. And after dinner we headed to a new movie theater we hadn't been to yet and saw Rush Hour 3. We quite enjoyed it. It was slap stick, but then again so are all Rush Hour movies.
So, overall it's really been a terrific day. :D
