Egads. Posting this, week 99 AND week 100 all at once, so if you missed one, refer back to
this entry, where I will list all of the linky-extravaganza all in one place as well as my explanation for all the crazy lateness. LINK HOOO!
When there's something strange in your neighborhood, there's a good chance Steve Ward is behind it. At least, if it involves a pair of enormous Tesla coils making huge sparks, loud noises, and cool music. Ghostbusters on the giant singing Tesla coils is geeky music for science!
Definitely not a fail, customer service win shows what goes on the other side of the cash register.
Weird? is a little mini comic that is easily summed up by the second to last panel: "...and they tell me that there are people who are normal, but I don't know what they look like because I've never met one."
Hey, what the hell, it seems CNN has jumped on the list bandwagon with 5 amazing messages in bottles. A lot of these are pretty sweet (in the "d'aww, would you look at that!" kind of way, not the, "IUSUHGRABCJKSAFAWESOME" kind of way, mind you).
Howl's Moving Castle. Watch this video... and learn from it. LOL, maybe not, but not only does it have "Vespertilo," as the background music, but it's basically one guy building Howl's moving castle, which, if you've seen Howl's is a wonder in of itself. Even if you haven't, you can't deny this thing looks epic.
...*snerk*
OH HAY, CHECK OUT THIS BEAUTIFUL CAR OH NO WAIT, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
Wonderous blasts from the past come at you with 10 of the lamest cartoon heroes ever. I remember six of them, how about you?
Venezuela for the fail:
Venezuela to jail violent-game merchants. God, you're worse than Australia: "National Assembly of Hugo Chavez-led country signs off on bill that would see purveyors of "war" games and toys face up to five years in prison."
Sure, why not? Neon Tetris on skates. You will love this video and wish you could skate came up with this idea first. Also: excellent techno beat. If this were a real Tetris game though, there'd be some l33t haxx0rs going on though :|
Apparently it happens more often than you think: here are 5 pieces of junk that turned out to be invaluable artifacts. Everything from 3 to 1 I had heard about in some way, and I swear the #5 is the inspiration for "The Red Violin" or something, but hopefully you'll get a kick out of it.
Ahah, win. E-mail error ends up on road sign. "When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply was what they needed. Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: 'I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated'." You think, when they got the reply back a minute later, that there might have been a problem?
THE FUTURE IS ATTACKING YOUR FACE AGAIN! Behavioral screening -- the future of airport security? is worrying to me, especially considering the wide number of emotions that can occur to the average person in the airport. For serious. Even still, love the crazy Metal Gear-ness going on: "The technology is still under development, says Givon, who believes it will be strong enough to pick up biometric information from a footstep. If a passenger is wearing heavy hiking boots, for example, WeCU will rely on biometric sensors combined with video and thermal biometric imaging to detect malicious intent."
Special Agent Tom Rogers must get his daughter back... and this is hilarious. Daughters is a little ridiculous and totally epic. "I HAVE TO GO. THEY HAVE MY DAUGHTER." "...They called you to remind you they have your other daughter?" "No, other terrorists have my other OTHER daughter." And the final line, oh lawl.
OH FUCK NO. Cheated wife chews off man's manhood.
Let's move away from that ASAP with a classic America's Funniest Home Video: cat fits in fish bowl. Isn't it cute how he gets stuck? D: Let's face it: if you were a cat, you'd do shit like this all the time too.
If you thought your luck was bad, check out 7 of the most bizarrely unlucky people who ever lived. Seriously, don't start on any of that, "at least they survived, so wouldn't that make them pretty damn lucky?" crap. You wouldn't want to live after some of this stuff happened to you, much less multiple times.
HAY YO, Daft Hands. I'm really happy for you, and I'ma let you finish, but Daft Kayne Hands is the best finger dancing video OF ALL TIME.
When science and art collide! Darwin's Dystopias: ghastly visions inspired by evolution shows what happened when people heard Darwin's theories and ran with them, artistically. There's some pretty fun pieces here.
Lolwut. Students ordered to write essay on fellatio by school principal. As jarring as that is, it seems that the punishment may have fit the crime quite well, as there was a bullying problem going on... if you were curious, follow up articles show that the school board fully backed the decision of the principle.
...y'know what? I just don't know anymore. Here are 6 fun sized countries with insane histories. TOTALLY NORMAL, NOTHING WEIRD GOING ON OVER HERE.
And to end: oh Fox news. Without you, I'd never get stories like this in my Google sidebar. World's smallest body builder looking for love. Oh lawd.
