WTF Wednesday - Round 89

Oct 07, 2009 06:09

In a rare twist of fate (also: procrastination), I find myself writing the linkies up much earlier than usual (the time of this is actually Monday, though if I don't forget, it'll be up on either Tuesday or, more likely, Wednesday), mostly because my week is so insane this week. Let's end the preamble and begin (and as always, the Master List contains all the linkies to date, alphabetical, and marked by what week they appeared.)

  • Let's start with something kinda weaksauce, so I can clear it from my linkies folder. Here are 10 most creative ice cube trays around. A few you've probably seen elsewhere on the net, but I had to post this for their number two (their number one ain't shabby either). Ahahah, so wrong.

  • And it is for precisely this reason my facebook was made private after I found out my mother opened an account.

  • This story goes from bad to worse... in the title alone. Man hit by truck helping women cross street, gets ticketed. APPARENTLY HELPING THE ELDERLY IS FROWNED UPON IN COLORADO. And the injuries of being blasted by a truck aren't enough: you need to get a ticket for jaywalking. :|

  • OH NO NO. A woman in China had to get 26 pins removed by surgery from her body. Why? Her grandparents, as a child, were trying to force a sex-change via acupuncture.

  • Feck, I hate love people who are made talented at sand sculptures. Here's 15 awesome ones, to make you made jealous of other people's skills. My person favs are the Hades and Lucifer falling from heaven ones.

  • Last week, I posted an article about ugly animals... one made it onto that list that I actually think is fairly cute: the axolotl. Here's a little article on them. And how precious! Scientists are trying to set up an axolotl sanctuary around "Doll Island," also known as one of the f''n creepiest places on earth... it's oddly suiting.

  • Y'know, if Batman were on the show, I'd probably actually watch it.

  • OH YES TOTALLY. I... what? Are you trying to tell me whales came from deer? Well, maybe. Apparently a study on some mice-deer's some very bizarre behavior, and a fossil of a ruminant animal that looked like a small deer but looked sorta like it could be an ancestor of early whales, have some science folk all excited-like. Yay, the mysteries of evolution!

  • TINA TURNER HAS NEVER FRIGHTENED ME MORE THAN IN THIS INSTANT. I've had this link for ages, and totally forgot about it, and scared myself all over again. It was kind of awesome ._.

  • Here's a video outlining the five major reasons why you'll hate Twilight. Normally, I wouldn't post something like this, since bashing Twilight's been going on for awhile, but the Dracula part killed me.

  • What's better than explosions and boobs? Refresh for new, random generations of this combo... I do a combination of ._. and applauding the person who came up with the website. To my knowledge, all the boobs are reasonably covered up, so it should be reasonably work safe.

  • I think we'll all seen the retarded, "LOL F1RST!" comments on any sort of internet video. This video is the first in making the observation of a series of firsts. n00b. The last two are fabulous.

  • Happened about a year ago, and I'm sort of surprised I missed putting it up back then - Victim's kin sue in Wal-Mart stampede death. "34-year-old hired for holidays killed when customers stormed into store." HOLY SHIT A SALE. :| ...However, my brief stint in retail, I can tell you, opening a department store for a major holiday sale... yeah, I can easily see it happening.

  • Oh for the love of... let's see how many of these guys you remember from your childhoods. Here are 7 badass cartoon villains who lost to retarded heroes. GOODNESS MUST PREVAIL :B

  • Ahahahahahah! Everyone fails in this story: Walmart sells you an empty box instead of a laptop... but you bought it with a stolen credit card. Winners, everyone.

  • Okay, so this video (and it's sequel, though the first one is my more favored half), called "The Hardest Mario," is some kind of hacked, almost impossible to beat, version of the classic NES game... with awesome, awesome commentary. If watching a video game video is actually work-safe where ever you may be, you probably don't have to worry about the swearing (but there is LOTS of it, so be forewarned before playing this one in public). Both videos are quite long, but the level's pretty damn fascinating so hopefully you won't have too much trouble sitting through it.

  • With winter upon us soon enough, here's an article about a rather remarkable skiier... who's two years old.

  • Those of you who went to see Ponyo in theatres (I believe it's still playing... go see it), may recall how Ponyo had a few different forms: there was the adorable fish form, and the cute as a button girl form, and the in between vaguely frightening form... this article reminds me of the in between form: strange humanoid carp found in pond. If the screen shot isn't weird enough, watch the video at the bottom of the page. It really drives it home D:

  • One man, 18 drums. Some guys have rhythm. Other guys leech the rhythm out of other people and then do crazy stunts like this.

  • MY BAD. Had a lot of videos this week. Hopefully you all have at least HEARD of Left 4 Dead (if you haven't: it's a video game wherein you and your buddies do little more than blow your way through a zombie apocalypse). Hilariously, someone made a very unique mod to the game, and altered the zombies a bit. Can't get much more therapeutic than this.

  • SPIDER LIZARD, SPIDER LIZARD, does whatever a spider lizard does!

  • This is one of the most hilariously spaztic dogs I've ever seen in my life. I love the owner: "DOG JUST CHILL, why do you have to jerk around like that?! XD"

  • Holy... holy fail. So many things wrong with this article. So a homeowner gets his house broken into. He manages to hold the robber at gun point and calls 9-1-1. The cops get there and, seeing a guy with a gun, opens fire. When he's on the ground, the cops shoot him some more, then drags him in front of his family... the story literally gets worse and worse, right to the point where the cops, realize their mistake and try to cover it up. Mind you, he's still on the phone with 9-1-1, so now the whole thing's on tape. WTFWTFWTF.

  • ...Let's bring the mood back up. Rare parrot humps photographer's head. That's gotta be awesome: finding an incredibly rare species, it being curious enough of you to hold still for some photos, and, that species mistakenly thinking you're making a porno, takes things into it's own hands... wings. "Look, he's so happy! ...You're being shagged by a rare parrot!"

  • I... this hasn't happened before? Apparently we're coming up on Edgar Allen Poe's 160 anniversary since his death (and 200 years since his birth), and the city of Baltimore is putting on two funeral services this Sunday, complete with actors portraying Poe's contemporaries and other long-dead writers and artists will pay their respects. I wish I knew about this sooner... there were tickets being sold to go see this, each service holding only 350 people. While they're selling some tickets at door, I wouldn't wanna get my ass to Baltimore only to find out I wouldn't be able to get in... I hope someone puts it up on YouTube >_>

  • And to end... one of my very favorite videos of all time was from back on week 37, of the "stealth cat" who stalked his owner without moving. This video, Not-so-stealth cat, made me laugh just about as hard as the original.
  • dogs, video games, douchebag, wtf, sex, science, sweet jeebus no щ(゚Д゚щ), art, under da sea, stupid, animals, death, music, food, weirdos, videos, photos, cats, when fandom attacks, kids, links tiem, smooth criminal, zombies/vampires, omgwant, ways in which they fail, lists, movies, epic lulz
