WTF Wednesday - Round 80

Aug 05, 2009 15:12

Hate to post and dash, but I got to get ready for the opera. Here we go!

  • There's something adorable and absolutely wrong about a five-year old singing Johnny Cash tunes while strumming on a guitar. I leave this for you to boggle over.

  • This has got to be one of the best Engrish menus I've ever seen. Vaguely NSFW... the plum does WHAT to the vegetables? My personal favorite is "the temple explodes the chicken cube."

  • Not to ruin your perception of some of the most beloved storylines from movies out there... but here are 5 heroes who did nothing and saved the world. Man... if we could all have a pack of lackeys to make everything so easy.

  • Unlike the dicks in the last link, here are five people who ACTUALLY saved the world... and you've probably never even heard of them.

  • Courtesy of serke, here's yet another epic Amazon.com review. This time it's about... milk. Yes, milk. If you're a good person, and you have an Amazon.com account, you will totally give some of the dramatic mini-stories five stars.

  • Most notable for it's usage of the "oh snap!" flow chart (as seen here a few weeks ago), it's Oh Snap! Attack on Twitter. Basically, the way that this (and several other) "bot" Twitter accounts work is that it finds every tweet with a catch-phrase/word (in this case "oh snap!") and records and spits them back out, for the lulz. And yes, I found it because my oh snap tweet got oh-snap'd there.

  • Modern art is... chewy. Here's what happens if god picked up a pack of Bazooka Joe and then couldn't find a trashcan later.

  • Unlike the above, here are 12 of the worst photoshop mistakes. Way to epicly fail with not understanding basic anatomy.

  • NO. NO. THIS IS LIKE A CERTAIN COW-CHICK VIDEO I POSTED AGES AGO AND IS EQUALLY NO. Heron eats rabbit, destroys all previous conceptions of the food chain. ...Okay, the cow eating the baby chick was much worst but still: this heron's just kind of a dick.

  • I want to marvel over the title a bit: Russian church taken by thieves: "A 200-year-old church building has disappeared from a village in central Russia, officials from the Russian Orthodox Church say." Err... wut?

  • Incredibly old news is old, but it was floating around in my links folder, wandering aimlessly, so I took pity upon it. In case you didn't hear, Del Toro is set to direct "The Hobbit" movie. Geeks around the world rejoice! Quite seriously though, there are few directors that I can think of who would be better suited to make it, so props to him.

  • Talk about drama... actor cuts throat on Vienna stage, audience thinks it's part of the act. For serious though: it was deliberate, for the blunt prop was somehow switched for the real thing... I am eerily reminded of what happened to Brandon Lee on The Crow set.

  • So who has cleared access to a warehouse so we can try for the world record in human-mattress dominos? Honestly, it'd be great fun for a boring Sunday.

  • Here's a news article from 1903 about a woman who died. The cause? The tight-lacing on her corset was enough that it broke ...and shot two pieces of steel through her heart. щ(゚Д゚щ)

  • ...meh. At least ghzero will like it. It's a digitized version of the famous Japanese painting The Great Wave off Kanagawa and is so so pretty.

  • I've read some pretty awesome modern spins on genjis and the three wishes one gets... and this is probably the best. Jinnetic Engineering is cutely clever and just out-of-context enough to be almost eerie.

  • It's time to swing a baby! Psht, that's no- OH MY GOD GET ME A BABY I HAVE TO TRY IT NOW. D:

  • To end: I've been meaning to put this up for ages but I keep forgetting to. It officially classifies as one of the weirdest music videos I've ever seen. I actually WASN'T going to post it, since I found it on one of my oddball link sources (along with the description, "it has been pointed out that the child being accosted by putrescent, otherworldly beings and people with degloved faces seems to be distressed in a way that may not be entirely due to his acting chops"), and I thought to myself, "this will NEVER play on one of music television stations." ...What do you know, within two weeks of this getting posted online did I catch this on VH1, of all stations, at 3AM. Here's MGMT's "KIDS" video, where Silent Hill could probably take some pointers in future monster designs. I'm also pretty sure some kind of child abuse laws were broken in the making of this thing. I didn't even mention the sheer amounts of LSD this video oozes. Also: way to mess up your Nietzsche with Twain.
  • douchebag, wtf, magic, science, nsfw stuff, sweet jeebus no щ(゚Д゚щ), art, animals, death, music, food, fashion, japan, videos, creepy, photos, ads, kids, links tiem, smooth criminal, ways in which they fail, lists, movies, epic lulz
