big bang...
I took a break from school work today to work on my big bang. And I'm starting to feel good about it again! :oD Hopefully that feeling will stick around for a while.
awesomepants87 (who's awesome for acting as beta) pointed out that there was way too much pointless angst (angst for angst sake) in there, and looking at it now I feel like denying I ever wrote that. Because angst for angst's sake? :o/ No, thanks. There has to be a reason for it. So I'm chopping out a lot of angst, and as a result the Dean/Castiel relationship that just wasn't coming together before is developing more naturally now. So... \o/
And yes, I am chopping out a few more scenes that I realize now aren't necessary. Part of me is like, "Ugh! But I like that scene!" but it doesn't contribute to the whole. And one of the rules of writing? You have to kill your darlings. So I'm taking a knife to this thing today. I'm rather proud of myself. (And who knows, maybe after this is all done I'll post an outtakes fic thing lol. :oP)
I'm still a bit nervous about finishing it on time, but if I continue working on it today, I think I'll have a good chunk of it worked out. And then one or two more nights/days and I should be done with a somewhat "solid" first draft. I have to keep on reminding myself it's just a FIRST draft, though. I can go back and work on word choice, specifics, etc later.
And oh yeah... it's at the 42,000 word mark :o/ What the freak am I doing? Is this too long? Is anyone gonna want to read a fic this long??
Anyway, yeah, so I'm done rambling now. :oP
Oh, and for any of you artists out there, you should totally go join spn_j2_bigbang ;o) Artist sign-ups are open until May 1, and then you'll have about a month (until June 1) to collaborate with the author/fanfic you chose and create a work of art. Totally give it a looksie ;o)
