This was not how Miranda wanted to start her Monday; she supposed it was part of the risk of having a commute though. Sometimes things happened that were just inconvenient… Like getting a flat tire halfway to Dallas. She had just had her car in for service a couple months ago too, weren’t they supposed to check the tires? Or had that been something she just assumed they did. In any case, she was not happy.
She would need to call the office to let them know she might be late, and she had never had to use roadside assistance before, so she had no frame of reference to work with in regard to a timeframe of when she would make it in. At least most of her meetings for the day were all scheduled for after lunch. The design department would just need to understand her tardiness and work with their morning schedule changing. Or maybe she could get Mark to cover for her, especially since she had covered for him last week when he slept through his alarm.
With a sigh Miranda turned her car off and set her keys in the empty cup holder, taking a deep breath to compose herself before she started to try and compose a way to deal with the situation. Did she even have a spare? She hadn’t ever had to look to find out before. Or would roadside assistance bring one out with them? She reached to turn her hazard lights on and opened the driver’s door, stepping out and smoothing her skirt down out of habit before walking around the front of the vehicle to the passenger side to get a look at the flat. She bent at the waist, brushing her hair out of her eyes and tried to do her best to make heads or tails of what happened. It wasn’t like she could do anything herself though, especially not in a dress and heels, but maybe knowing what the situation looked like would make it easier to explain when she called.
