Charisma’s birthday wasn’t going to be anything big, he had got the impression that that wasn’t what she wanted. So instead Miah had made sure that he had the shop covered so he could spend the day with her; and he was glad he hadn’t had the idea to organize some kind of party at his place. He really wouldn’t have wanted to call and un-invite people. Or not people. Person. God, it would have been awkward to have had to make that phone call to Maureen. Or maybe she wouldn’t have even bothered to show up anyways.
Breakfast that morning had been comfortable; he hadn’t gone so cliché to do breakfast in bed, but he had made sure it was more than just cold cereal. Even if the ten minute fight with the coffee maker had been a little embarrassing. It was just so damn complicated and he didn’t use it enough to have it figured out. It had given Charisma a good laugh though probably, so in the end it was worth losing a little of his pride over.
He wasn’t sure what they would do for the rest of the day, but he wasn’t concerned. If Charisma had anything in mind beyond staying in and relaxing, Miah was sure she’d let him know. And he still needed to find the right opportunity to give her the gift he had purchased for her. Breakfast hadn’t seemed like the right time and he was too comfortable curled on the sofa with Charisma to even think about moving again just yet.
