Dressing up for Halloween wasn't something Devri ever really did. Granted growing up she had never had time for it between school and dance. She had tried to use that same argument now, that she was too busy, paired with the fact that she didn't have any kind of party to go to, but August quickly informed her that she was going to help him hand out candy at the house and that still required dressing up. So that's what had her at a costume shop on a Saturday, politely vetoing ninety percent of any thing August was suggesting to her.
She was trying to be a good sport, had even tried to convince August she could just dress up as a ballerina and nobody would be the wiser that it wasn't exactly a costume. He had made a face at her, and Devri had sighed dramatically and continued thumbing through the costume racks. "Is it really a rule that I have to dress up?" Devri asked, glancing over her shoulder at August. "Maybe I should ask J.J. about this."
