RP: Escaping from Paperwork

Summary: Dess is manning the counter. Because she can’t take the paperwork anymore.

She’d given up and called it quits on the paperwork for the moment. It was threatening to eat her. She swore it was. She’d come out to relieve the waitress working the counter. Serving customers was always a good cure for the horrible horrible paperwork that she had to do to keep everyone paid and supplied. She was seriously considering finding an minion just for the officework.
The Tuesday lunch regulars were all there and she greeted them with smiles and menus and refills on sweet tea and sodas. It wasn’t quiet, but it wasn’t slammed with business either. She preferred these times. Just busy enough to keep occupied and yet not frantically running here and there and not sitting down for four hours because there were just that many people in the diner.
She was working on a sketch in her small sketchbook, she’d gotten the idea while putting in the orders for the nurses that always took their lunches here. She’d have to ask Jake for input and probably permission but it’d be an intriguing piece if he’d agree to it. She made a mental note to call him later tonight and see how he was doing.
The door opened and Dess spotted someone new walking in. “Welcome to Sunshine Diner.” She told the woman as she got closer to the counter.
