The car started to rattle disconcertingly twenty minutes from home. He let loose a vicious curse and steered into the first repair shop on the road. He didn't care if they ripped him off. The past six months he had made a tremendous amount of money, easily paying for the rest of Fiona's schooling. The vicious ugly reawakening of the winter had spurred him on like the fires of hell. He worked doggedly, taking breaks only to be with his daughter or swim long tireless laps in his pool.
He was driving back from a three day long excursion to Mexico and all he wanted was his bed. Instead his beautiful baby, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, was clearly sick. Lovely. Fuck. He parked and went inside, looking for anyone who looked like they worked there.
