Ugh. My favorite part of the day - trying to catch the bus home. The crazy Inauguration traffic has already begun! I just waited a whole freakin' hour for a bus that NEVER showed up. Which is just wrong anyway because, yes, traffic was horrible and congested but it was still moving. So, surely a bus should've appeared at some point during that hour. But, no. Not even a bus for one of the other routes. Instead, we all stood there freezing and looking like idiots.
I know, I could've gone for the Metro earlier but after a certain point, it becomes sheer stubborness. Especially because you know that once you leave the bus will come, because having waited that long you kind of expect that the bus should be showing up some time soon, right? The chances one must take . . . In any event, WMATA won tonight. I gave up - also realizing that even if the bus did come right at that point, I'd still have to sit in traffic for another hour - and trekked the extra 4 blocks to the Metro station and paid the extra money to travel by train as opposed to bus.
Tomorrow night? I'm so headed straight for the Metro. Not even going to bother with the bus. It's just stupid that I got off at 5:15 and didn't get home until 7:15 when it's normally a 40 minute commute. Not to mention, it's cooooooooooold outside. My toes froze and are still defrosting. I'm afraid to hit them against something by accident; they might fall off!
Blegh. Transportation roulette truly sucks.
