Goran Visnjic (ER, The Deep End) is set to star opposite Katee Sackhoff in the ABC drama pilot Boston's Finist, which will also star Nia Long, Will Yun Lee, Treat Williams and Richard T. Jones. The show centres on Julia Scott, a female detective who teams with Angus Martin (Visnjic), a disgraced ex-cop to solve crimes and untangle the conspiracy that sent him underground. Long will play her friend, mentor and partner. Williams will play Jack Holt ("rock-solid, immensely likeable"), the ex-cop's former partner who's also the father of Julia's boyfriend Christian (yet to be cast). Lee will play Eddie Lao, an informant who owns a Chinese restaurant, and Jones is believed to be playing Julia's boss. (The Futon Critic)

Sigourney Weaver joins the cast of Vamps, a horror-comedy about a pair of beautiful young vampires (Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter) who are living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality. Weaver will play the ancient vampire who turned them. The film is written/directed by Amy Heckerling (Clueless). (THR)

British actor David Oyelowo (Spooks) will play the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in Lee Daniel's (Precious) historical drama Selma. Hugh Jackman is also cast as a racist sheriff in the tale revolving around the historic marches staged by King in 1965 in Selma, Ala. (THR)

Robert Downey Jr. is set to star in Alfonso Cuaron's (Children of Men) 3D science-fiction drama Gravity. Cuaron wrote the script with his son, Jonas. Downey will play the leader of a team posted at a remote space station. While he and a female colleague are traveling outside the space station, the other team members are decimated by debris from an exploded satellite. (Deadline)
