Jane was clad in wares terribly unlike her, but such was the case as she had been forced to place her clothes in the dryer. Whatever temporary replacements she could find would befit her well enough and so she was clad in baggy pants of cotton and wore a chemise with a sweater wrapped around her to ward off the chill of any residual wetness. Lydia was dry and safe in the children's office and Jane was hopefully quick upon her heels.

Her tea was nearly finished to assure that she would find warmth and it was as she stared at the boiling teapot that she removed the ring about the chain on her neck, studying it carefully and with great affection, unclipping the chain and sliding the ring off.

As though it were not her hands but those of someone else, she very cautiously and lovingly slipped the ring upon her left ring-finger, staring at the way it caught the light of the kitchen. There was a warm smile upon her face, a private fondness as she stared at it and decided that she did not think she wished to keep it upon the chain a moment longer.

She folded the chain into half, followed by quarters, sliding it into one of the many pockets available to her as her thoughts turned to the inevitable wedding. She did not know what to do, if she were honest. There were so many choices to be made and she was not sure at all how very much like the last she wished it to be.

She still, at some points, could hardly believe that come a matter of months, she would be a wife once more. Oh! Her Mama would be so very happy, if only she could hear the news.
