A 5-Star Restaurant | Waitressing | {Mild Aphro}

Aug 25, 2011 01:09

It seemed that once more, Amelia's better judgement had taken a backseat to her urge to assist people. Just her luck really, that she happened to witness someone being harassed as she passed the restaurant, apparently unable to pay their bill and looking rather terrified of what the staff might do to even things out. Unable to keep herself out of ( Read more... )

Tidus hadn’t expected to stumble across this place as he wandered through the town. Yeah, he knew that there would be restaurants, but not one where the aroma of food caught his attention like this one did. It didn’t help that he was already pretty hungry after building up such a big appetite walking around like he did. He stood outside of the place for a few moments, wondering if he should just pass it over or go inside. After a moment or two, he came to a decision.

He wandered inside and glanced about a bit, trying to see if he could spot a table where people weren’t sitting. There were a couple, but he wanted one a bit farther from the door. When he saw one that fit the criteria, he walked over to it and pulled out the chair and sat down. A small sigh rolled past his lips as he plopped down into the chair. It also felt pretty good to sit down too. What Tidus hadn’t realized, though. Was that his own wallet had come up missing (stolen) as he wandered through the town.

He leaned back in his chair a bit and waited patiently for a waitress to come over and take his order.

While Tidus was finding a seat, Amelia had been in kitchen out of sight. The lunch rush had died down, so she had been bringing dishes through and sorting out the money that had been given to her for the last few tabs, the manager giving the total of tips, which she slipped into her apron pocket. It hadn't been a bad day, and she had made up a fair amount of money back, so it was all good.

That was disrupted slightly when she was told to go out and serve a new customer before she finished up. The princess was due to clock out, but the head waiter asked her to go in order to stop the other waitresses from bickering over who would get to attend to the gentleman sitting at one of the back tables. Naturally, she complied, leaving the kitchen and making her way towards the customer.

"Welcome sir, how may I-...Tidus?" she stopped suddenly on recognising the familiar face.

He had no idea about the commotion going on in the back. If he knew, he might have felt a bit bad about stirring up the bickering between the wait staff. But the compromise that the head waiter came up with was going to more than make Tidus happy.

He continued to wait patiently for someone to come and serve him. It wasn’t until he heard the footsteps drawing closer and the voice that he turned his attention up to her. When he saw the face, he paused for a moment before smiling warmly. It wasn’t at all who he expected to see in this place, but he definitely wasn’t going to complain about the familiar face.

“Amelia? You work here?” He asked curiously. The outfit that she was wearing at that she was wearing at the moment suited her pretty well.

"Yes, I do, it's a long story." she laughed a little, not wanting to go into the details of the whole mishap that got her into this. Granted, he probably wouldn't be surprised, since he was present the last time a good deed had landed her in such a predicament. At least this job, and the attire to go with it, was less embarrassing.

"How have you been by the way Tidus?" she enquired, smiling at him. His arrival might have been surprising, but it was far from unwelcome.

He wouldn’t be surprised if he knew the whole story. He had come to know what kind of person she was, so helping a person out in need didn’t seem like such a farfetched thing for her to do. And he really couldn’t tell which outfit he liked on her more, this one or the last one that he saw her in.

“I’ve been pretty good. What about you?” Despite her current, but what he assumed to be temporary, new job. She didn’t look to be in bad shape or low spirits.

While she had to wonder if something was at work, considering she kept running into Tidus while dressed in clothes that tended to attract attention, she dismissed the notion for now. She was still supposed to be working after all. Though again she was thankful that the waitress uniform was more tasteful, even she had to occassionally check the skirt wasn't riding up due to it's shortness.

"Well enough thank you, I'm managing." she replied, fetching her pen and notepad from her apron. "Anyway, do you want to order just now?"

“Yeah.” He picks up his menu and looks it over for a few moments. “Could you just..bring me the house special? That looks like it could be pretty good. Unless there is something else better on the menu that you could recommend to me?” He said as he shut the menu and pulled this attention back over to her. He really didn’t want to be picky at the moment, but if she knew of something better then he was more than willing to try it out.

"I'd say you're pretty safe there, but I think I can ask a favour from our chef and find something special for you. I won't be long." she winked, heading back towards the kitchen and no doubt giving Tidus a nice view as she moved away.

After a bit of discussion, she persuaded the staff to make one of their special platters. The price was about the same as the house special, but this was only served up once a week, for good reason. She only hoped he would like it, but it wasn't the most popular dish for no reason, so Amelia was fairly confident as she made her way back to his table.

"Here you go, enjoy." she said as she placed the food in front of him. "I have to finish up a few things before my shift is over, so I guess I'll see you around Tidus." she smiled, not wanting to impose on him. As much as it would be nice to talk more, she didn't want to be pushy.

“I’d really appreciate that, Amelia.” He said with a bit of a nod. Tidus did check out the view as she walked away from him. He tilted his head to the side a little bit and watched her strolling away from him. Though he was careful not to get caught staring. Once she had disappeared off into the back, he turned his attention off to the window with a happy smile on his face. He stumbled grumbled just a little bit while he waited for his food to be brought back to him.

The scent hit his noise as she drew closer with the special platter. He sniffed the air a little before turning his attention over to her as she brought him his food. He looked down to it as she placed it in front of him. “Thanks..but, you aren’t going to sit with me for a bit longer? I mean, if you’ll get in trouble then you don’t have to. But I do enjoy your company a lot, Amelia.”

Technically she was done for the day, and there was no one else waiting to be attended to in the restaurant at the moment. Admittedly, she was a little weary of the barrage of questions she would get from her other female co-workers later, but shook her head to dismiss the thought. The fact that she knew Tidus and had talked to him so casually would have caused that anyway, so what was the harm in spending time with someone she knew?

"Well, if you insist." she finally replied, pulling out the chair across from him, straightening her skirt before sitting down, smiling softly at him.

He smiled brightly when she finally sat down. He hadn’t considered that the other waitresses might pester her with questions about what their relationship to each other might be. Even if it had occurred to him, he still would have asked her to sit down with him. He meant what he said about enjoying her company.

He picked up his fork. “So this is a pretty big step up from being a dancer.” He said in a teasing tone as he ate some of his food.

Amelia barely had time to settle in her seat before feeling her face flush with colour. As much as the end result of that one night wasn't something she hated, the recollection of having to perform like that still made her blush. Needless to say, she was relieved that no one from her home world had caught her routine; it wouldn't have been considered terribly proper for a princess.

"Well, it's less embarrassing at least, and I don't get stared at so much anymore." she laughed sheepishly, fingers playing with the ends of her short dark hair. "Are you still working at the club?"

“I’d think that no matter where you were or what you were wearing that you’d get stared at.” She was very beautiful, there was no doubting that at all. Her outfits were always just a bonus that added on to just how beautiful she was.

“Not anymore. I didn’t stick around there too much longer after that night.” Maybe if she was still there he’d be working, but without someone like her that place didn’t have as much luster for him. He picked up some more food with his fork and ate some. He picked up a little more and offered it to her. “Want some?”

Surprised that her face could turn even redder than it was already, Amelia still managed to smile. She expected as much coming from him, and knew he was being genuine, making her feel all the warmer inside. "That almost sounds like you're admitting something Tidus." she teased.

Hearing that he left the club, she looked rather baffled, head tilting in question. "Oh, was there something you didn't like about the job?" she asked, hoping she wasn't prying too much. In the meantime, she shook her head at the offered food. "No, it's your meal, please enjoy it." she insisted, trying to ignore the fact she hadn't really had the chance to eat since early on in the morning.

“Oh, I have no idea what you are talking about.” He says with a bit of amusement in his voice. He would lie, he loved to look at her. Just seeing her could manage to bring a smile to his face. And getting to sit with her and talk like this just served to make him even happier.

“Without you there, the place wasn’t nearly as fun anymore.” He admitted before taking a bite out of the food that he had offered her. If she ever wanted to try some, he would gladly let her have a taste. It was really good. Even if she wasn’t working there anymore, he did hope that she would give him another private dance again sometime soon.

"Really? You don't remember the comments you made last time we met?" she asked back, voice innocent but with a mischievious undertone. Amelia wasn't really the flirty sort, but with him, the teasing was just in good fun, and showed how comfortable she was with him.

Taking her mind off food the for the moment, she was still rather confused, and flustered, at the remark. "I can't have been the only thing that made the job worthwhile though." she spoke, trying not to stumble over her words. After all she was only there due to a fluke. That and she still had to think that the other dancers, with their training and experience, easily outshone her.
