In search of Spark

It's been gloomier longer than I've ever seen it since I moved to NC nearly two decades ago. Now it's still gloomy, but also soul-crushingly hot. Without a lot going on in my life in the way of social rituals to mark the seasons, I've been drawing inwards more and more, which is a great recipe for depression. It doesn't help that Gary seldom wants to wander far afield and doesn't have the patience to stay very long when we do. Happily, he's become more open and actually encouraging me to take solo excursions to add some variety. I've just started trying a few things to work out what combination of locations and activities will re-ignite the missing spark.

Today would have been dreary on every level, but I took advantage of the temporary cool of the early evening thunderstorm to drill some moves out on the deck. Not a lot of ceiling clearance, but enough to do the job. My shoulder rolls are now nearly 100%, plus I accidentally "discovered" a low-high behind-the-back vertical pass that looks pretty nifty. I also started getting the timing on jumpthroughs, and maintaining break sessions for several minutes. I'm also starting to work on the around-the-back wrap and the escalator.

Next will be some choreography. My goal is to put together a small group routine to "Freak Show" by The Gothic Archies for Halloween.
