recent happenings
on monday my lawyer notified me that my divorce is final.
i got married in march of 2006. my ex-husband and i dated for 3 or so years before we decided to get married. in march of 2007 i discovered that he was sleeping with my then best friend. he & his daughter moved out and i started to move on. the last time i even spoke to him was september of 2007. i couldn't file for divorce because i couldn't afford the $4000 it was going to cost. don't believe those signs you see that say "divorce $200," that only works if you have no assets (we purchased a home with $$ that i had from a 401k from before i even knew him & my car and nearly all of the property that we had was mine - also from before i knew him, and i have an IRA and 401k), and if both parties are agreeable (he told me "I'm going to take you for all you're worth). my parents finally offered to pay for my divorce as a christmas present, i plan to repay them someday. i started the proceedings in january of 2008. 6 months to get divorced isn't terrible i suppose. it would have taken less time if we had been able to serve him the papers the first 4x they tried (the address he gave was bogus). it was relatively painless, fortunately i didn't have to communicate with him at all, it was done through my attorney.
as far as i'm concerned i've been divorced for a while and even told people that i was. i didn't think it would be a big deal to have the document in my hand but when i went to the court and got a certified copy i almost started to cry. i am finally rid of him once and for all.
i went to the social security office yesterday to have my name returned to my maiden name. i went to the DMV and bank today. i removed him as beneficiary for my 401(k) and started contributing again (i had stopped deductions because i didn't want him to get his paws on any more of my $$)

my allergies/asthma are going nuts from the smoke & pollution in the air. when i was driving home from work yesterday it was raining ash, yuck!

tonight is going to be a busy night! i have slightly over-committed myself.
i'm going to happy hour for a guy from work - today is his last day. my co-workers know how to drink, i have a feeling copious amounts of shots will be done. i'm supposed to do happy hour/dinner for my friend lisette's birthday. we are supposed to go to myst for jon's friends birthday then to glam for the closing party.
i'm hoping i can squeeze a bit of all of those things in to tonight and don't disappoint anyone.
i'm so damn excited for EDC!!
we fly out tomorrow - land - go to the venue - party all night - then fly back in the morning

i'm seriously considering renting a house boat for my 30th birthday in august.
i looked into it and i can rent a boat for 3 days on lake powell in august for 10 people - $50/a day per person
