Soundwave is really an Autobot spy. I mean come on, if he can read minds like everyone says he can, then why hasn't he gotten the codes for the autobots yet? The cassettes are used to 'spy' on the autobots so that Soundwave can adjust and sabotage the Decepticons as needed.
