Enter Akanishi Jin, the heir to J-One records, to save his day. Or will he really?

Chapter Two

“Aniki!” Yuuki[1] glomped Kazuya as soon as the latter entered their small apartment. “I’m sorry you didn’t get in again.” His youngest brother indignantly pouted. “I don’t get it! Your composition was waaaaaaaaaaay better than that Hamada-kun!” Yuuki fumed.

“Yo!” Kyouhei came out of the kitchen when he heard their first born come home. “Do you want me to beat up that Hamada? Or maybe it would be better if I beat up the judges?” Kamenashi family’s second born cracked his knuckles in anticipation. “It was obvious that the contest was fixed!”

Ryuu, Kamenashi’s third born, came out of the room he was sharing with Kazuya, Kyouhei, Hiroto and Shizuku -- the fourth and fifth born of the Kamenashi household respectively. “What’s with the ruckus?”

“Wanna join me in beating up somebody?” Kyouhei lightened up a bit, seeing his partner in crime waking up from his beauty sleep.

Ryuu perked up. “Sure! It’s been a while since I actually beat someone up.”

Kazuya shook his head in disbelief at the conversation taking place between the Kyouhei and Ryuu. “No one is going to assault anybody!”

“But they purposely let you lose the contest!” Kyouhei growled gloomily.

“You lost again, Kazu-nii?!” Ryuu got his eyebrows in a twist. “But Kizuna was the best one so far!” He turned to Kyouhei. “Come on, let’s go and beat the judges or the producers up! Or whoever is responsible in rigging the contest!”

“Please!” Kazuya begged the two to calm down. “No one’s beating someone up for my sake!”

Yuuki looked like he wanted to hide. Among the ten Kamenashi boys, Kyouhei and Ryuu were the most dangerous when angered. Hiroto came in second but he usually thinks first before heading out for his kill. Their sixth born Kousaku, the pro-boxer wannabee, came in third but he usually listens and waits for Hiroto’s go signal before he goes crazy with the kill.

“I wasn’t so lucky again this time.” Kazuya sighed heavily and placed his arms in akimbo remembering his losing streak.

“This is like conspiracy! I don’t believe you would lose five contests straight.” Kyouhei insisted. “I’m not saying this because you’re my brother, and I’m pretty sure our other brothers are in the same page as me but really, your songs are that great, Kazu-nii!”

Kazu smiled gratefully. “Thanks for the confidence.”

“You’re welcome!” Kyouhei grinned and repeated. “So can we go and beat someone up already?” He asked excitedly.

“You’re incorrigible!” Kazuya scratched his head in disbelief and Ryuu giggled at the gesture. “And you’re doing nothing but to encourage him!” He admonished the third born.

Ryuu shrugged playfully at the eldest. “He has good reason to be upset about the contest.”

“Oh well, lady luck wasn’t with me this time around too.” The oldest smiled rather bitterly. “Maybe I should stop trying to make a career out of singing or composing music.

“No, don’t!” Yuuki, Kyouhei and Ryuu immediately retorted.

“Please brother, you’re good. All you have to do is to try. I’m sure that one of these days your music will get the attention it deserves.” Yuuki encouraged.

“Quit and you’ll definitely see me in jail for beating up those poor bastards that made you decide to quit.” Kyouhei threatened.

“I’m with him.” Ryuu pointed at the furious Kyouhei.

Kazu gave each of his brothers a grateful smile. “You lads are so sweet to me.” His phone beeped his prepare-for-work alarm. “And that’s reality checking in.” He stole a glance at the wall clock. “I’ll be out until four tomorrow morning. Make sure you lock the house and don’t wait up for me, okay?”

“Will you be at Antonio’s tonight?” Ryuu asked.

“Yep.” Kazuya grinned. “Where else would you expect me to be?”

“Point taken.” Ryuu muttered.

Antonio’s was a restaurant-come-bar owned by his friends Koki and Maru. Those two graciously offered for him to man the bar counter or kitchen (depending on what time he came in for work) and the hourly rate was considerably high compared to his other part time jobs so he was really grateful for having such reliable and generous friends.

“Jya ne~!” Kazu left the house and the younger Kamenashi’s cheerfully waved their goodbyes.

“Tegoshi!” Akanishi barked as he entered the office.

The poor secretary was shaken to the core when Jin showed up in the office looking all pissed and unsatisfied. ‘Damn. Did I do something wrong?’ Yuya asked himself, trying to think of tasks that he failed to do to perfection. “Yes sir?” He inquired when the CEO didn’t make a sound and just stared at him with those piercing dark brown eyes.

“Order three dozen roses for Kamenashi Kazuya. Get his address from the contestants’ files.”

“Uh... roses, sir?” Yuya stuttered quite unbelievably. ‘Why roses? Isn’t Kamenashi Kazuya a guy?’ He thought as he scratched his head in confusion. “Um... what color would you want them to be, sir?”

Jin paused. “Yellow.”[2] He said after a while. “Tell the flower shop to put in a card with nothing but from 仁 on it.”

“Understood; if you would please excuse me...” Tegoshi closed the door to the CEO’s office and immediately placed the order.

Jin leaned on his recliner seat and sighed heavily. “Shit. Maybe it was a wrong move to let him lose five straight in a row...” Jin reflected as he looked back to his past.

He and Kamenashi Kazuya were both in the music club from elementary to middle school, but all of that changed when Kame left the music club for the baseball team in senior high. Jin felt big disappointment when Kame decided to leave music; he was a great singer, guitarist and arranger. Although he felt upset that Kame left to become a baseball player, he was secretly proud of the other man because he was an excellent baseball player... so maybe, leaving music for sports wasn’t much of a waste of talent but still, it was something that made Jin unhappy for three years in senior high.

Why? It was because of the three whole years of club time without Kamenashi Kazuya.

Kazuya was someone really precious to him -- he idolized the man’s music sense and arrangement skills. When the other became so engrossed in baseball, he never thought Kame would be coming back to the music scene, so just imagine his surprise to see Kame joining a contest sponsored by his company after being estranged to music for eight years.

Jin smirked. “This time, you’re not getting away from me Kamenashi-kun.” He muttered out loud.

Jin loved talent more than anything. More so if the talent is raw because you can hone them to perfection, into something fitting to your taste. And if anything, Kame got lots of raw talent waiting to be polished.

Jin gathered his wits and again, convinced himself that this was the right thing to do for one Kamenashi Kazuya.

“Yo!” Koki greeted when Kame showed up at the staff’s entrance.

“Hey.” Kame weakly replied.

“You lost again?” Koki guessed, seeing the slightly disgruntled look on Kame’s face.

“Was I that obvious?”

The now blond man -- because he often changes hairstyles like one would normally do with clothes -- lightly shrugged. “You’re an open book to me, Zuzu-chan~” He pouted cutely and then turned serious. “If you want to get into the music industry, I do have some connections you know...”

“I can’t ask you again for help, Koki.” Kame sighed. “I’ve been leeching from you and Maru and it’s not something I enjoy doing, you know.”

“Nonsense!” Koki huffed, lightly insulted. “You, leeching from us? Please! All we want is to help you out, to make life easier for you and your brothers. That’s what friends do, you know?”

“Still, I don’t want to stretch your kindness. In the first place, it was idiotic of me to think it’ll be easy for me to win music contests to get a job offer... that was too naïve of me... and I know better now.”

“So... what does that statement imply?” Koki’s eyebrows became a one line, not liking where Kame’s logic is heading towards to. “That you’ll give up music again, is that what you’re trying to say to me?”

Kame laughed. “You’re thinking too much, Koki. Oops, look at the time!” The younger of the two found a way to escape the now serious conversation. “Subaru’s definitely waiting for me to swap places with him. I better go now~”

Koki was left in the entrance, muttering light curses as his friend left.

Back to Chapter One / On to Chapter Three-----
[1] Yuuki as in Kame’s character in Yuuki. If you’re interested, here’s the list of Kamenashi brothers and their ages (in this series!)
* Kazuya - 24
* Kyouhei - 22
* Ryuu - 21
* Hiroto & Shizuku (twins) - 20
* Kousaku - 19
* Hajime & Yuya (twins) - 18
* Shuuji - 16
* Yuuki - 12
Yep, if you noticed, they’re all Kame’s drama roles! I’m lame like that. I didn’t include his roles as Akihiko (Kinpachi-sensei), Toru (Tokyuu Tanaka San Go) and Masakazu (MR. BRAIN) because it’d be too much if they appeared in here too *bricked*

[2] Apparently, yellow roses stand for:
* Joy
* Friendship
* Promise of a New Beginning
* Remember Me
* Jealousy &
* I Care
Don’t you think, with the way Jin is doing things in this series, that it fits the story excellently? XD

A/N: So there you go~~ a little background on Jin and Kame’s past. See? It wasn’t something malicious! *winks*

If you read this update, please leave a comment? I kinda got disheartened again! that people still lurk on my fic updates even though these updates became exclusive to users whom I really trust to leave comments and not become a silent reader. *sigh* I know I’m late replying to comments but I DO read every comment you leave me!

Anyhow, thank you for still supporting me and having interest in my fanfics. I won’t be around much in this journal because RL went crazy on my family again but I’ll still try to be around every week for fanfic updates~

Bye for now!
