maybe I'm crazy

Got your attention eh! This, is "Gnarles Barkley" a collaboration between Danger Mouse (The Grey Albumn, that mash-up of The Beatle's White Albumn and Jay-Z's The Black Albumn, and "Gorillaz" with that guy from Blur) and Cee-lo, a Southern rapper. They're playing Sunday at Coachella, so I'll miss them. I love the LA Times' description though: Danger Mouse plus Cee-Lo equals eccentricity squared, and the upcoming album by the team sounds something like Al Green meets Frank Zappa.( photo from this interview at Pitchfork).

I'm not a huge hip-hop fan usually. Okay, I do have 2 of Outcast's CDs and some De La Soul. This isn't rap though, it's all singing, and for a self-described rapper, Cee-lo knows how to use his voice and vocal range really well (from my classically trained perspective).

Coachella organizers finally released the schedule ( a digest of the listing) after a couple last minute adds. So far I've got :
Saturday 29 April
early afternoon: wander around the art and sculpture and people watch... hang out in the cool shadey DJ tent and watch the crazies dance
3-ish Lady Sovereign.
4-ish wander between Wolfmother's Led Zepplinesque sound and other tents
5-sih Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
6-ish My Morning Jacket (good old fashioned southern guitar alt rock with inspired vocals by Jim James)
7 Sigur Rós (Icelantic etherial soundscapes with a counter tenor voice)
8 Franz Ferdinand
9 Depeche Mode (fun, but more for nostalgia than any love of their new stuff)
11 Daft Punk ?

I'll be back with stories and photos ;-)
