Remember all that stuff about "trouble using WINE" and "oh, I found PlayOnLinux & it has all these install routines built in" ???
So far, including the two TES games I got on free download, I have installed 8 games through PlayOnLinux. All had native install routines, and claimed to install flawlessly.
TES 1 barely works, and the style of game isn't my cup of tea.
TES 2 has major audio problems & some controls don't work right.
TES 3 & 4 installed. Neither one plays; I keep getting some sort of "security file" error message. TES 4 has an official patch available - and PlayOnLinux actually prompts you to install it after you install the first disc, if you have the official expansions (I do). But when I try to install the patch, I get an error message that the file is not available. Needless to say, the expansions won't install without the patch.
In fact, the ONLY game that mostly installed well enough to work was Lucas Arts' Star Wars: Jedi Academy. And I said "mostly" because I can't get the command console to open.
It's beginning to look like my only viable option for a gaming computer will be to use this one on the internet, and get another computer for gaming. Ugh.
