I decided to suck it up and go last night, and was very glad I did, as I saw lots of old friends that I hadn't seen for years. Even if I did end up with the bottom of my spine shooting white-hot spikes all the way up to my neck.

Feelin' fine now, though! "SAY YES TO DRUGS", that is my new motto.

Power's back on here. Damage: the usual, trees down on interstates, windows blown out of businesses, blah blah. Nothing really too bad; mostly, if stuff was going to get damaged, it already did, during Katrina. The levees have been breached, and New Orleans is flooding again.

And my dad showed up and called to ask if I'd left a key outside. NO, I DIDN'T, because you were supposed to CALL and let me know if you were coming.

My uncle and family made it safely to Lufkin at around 5:00 AM this morning. My aunt's mother has a home there that they are staying in. Thanks for the prayers and good wishes!

My mom decided to go north instead, and is in Alexandria with a friend. It's normally about two hours north of Lake Charles, so they'll still get bad wind and rain, but at least they don't have huge potential flood damage ( Read more... )
