With a D-pad? Really?

I picked this up the other night:

Primarily for this reason:

Honestly, what's not to love? I know: trying to play this game with a standard friggin' PS2 controller. Honestly, one cannot Dragon Punch with a D-pad. The analog thumbstick isn't a great deal better. To play Street Fighter the way it is meant to be played, you really need one of these, like I was talking about a while ago. This issue aside, Street Fighter III remains my favorite of all the SF games. The character animation, the hit detection, the ability to shrug off attacks with parries--it's all fantastic. Miles beyond even the last cash-grabbing iteration of II. True, the characters are not as iconic or compelling as the stereotypes that populate the classic Street Fighter II (the "super" version even sports extra Native American, Jamaican, and Hong Kong stereotypes. The latter looks and plays just like Bruce Lee!), but the gameplay and art style win out, big time.
