Here's a question for children's educators and parents:

Do any schools allow field trips to art museums anymore?

I mean, there is nudity there. Partial, draped, full-frontal, male and female. Do kids have to take home special permission slips for their parents to sign that inform them that there will be nudes on display at the art museum, and that kids may see them?

This blog post/news (and an additional link) makes me wonder if such things are even allowed right now, or if schools just figure it's not worth the controversy, because kids hate art anyway. I am inclined to believe the latter. When I was in elementary school we went to the Denver Art Museum once, and it was really fabulous except for the relentless obnoxiousness of my classmates. We didn't get toured past any major artworks featuring nudes, because we were mostly in the modern section and it was all mostly abstract work, but there were a few classical pieces that had nudes that were in the background - which the kids totally didn't notice (or said nothing if they did, which I find hard to believe - they were really obnoxious kids). (On the other hand, of course, it was kind of obnoxious of the teacher to expect that fourth-graders would have appreciation for modern art in the first place. But it was a cool field trip. Do kids even get field trips anymore?)

This is actually a serious question, and I'd appreciate a response, if you've got any information.

Thanks to boingboing for yet another headscratcher.
