Oishi Syuiichiroh walked casually towards where Eiji, his best friend and the love of his life, stood waiting for him. They were going shopping together because Eiji insisted that he was going to make him bento and so Oishi decided he’d pay for half of it. The Earrings still was in his pocket, heavy with his emotion as he wondered if he’d ever give it to him. Part of him was scared of what was going to happen if he did, another part challenged himself - especially after what Ryoma Echizen said to him.
He MAY actually lose Eiji if he wasn’t careful. It was natural to like him. He was good looking, friendly, sweet and cute. He also had a smile to die for. He was lucky that the boy held on to him for that long.
“Oishi hurry up!”, Eiji called and waved at his best friend. A bright smile caressing his lips he stood there. he wore low-sung jeans and a t-shirt. His hair was open and surrounded his face. A bag and a little piece of Paper in his Hands he waited until Oishi was beside him. “Okay, do you have special wishes? Or just the standard things?”, he asked.
“Omatase, Sorry to keep you waiting,” Oishi flushed. “I got caught in a bit of jam by the stairs. Apparently, something was up in the hallway that kept me.” He finally caught up with him and smiled. Eiji always looks ready to perform, he looked amazing.
“I missed your omelette's,”Oishi admitted. “But any is fine.” He cocked his head to the side. “Where are we going after the supermarket?”
“Okay then omelet”, he grinned and made a mental note to buy some more eggs. “Hm I don’t know... I could show you my dance school. It isn’t far from here, what is really convenient, because I have to go there soon again. Sensei gave me 3 weeks to adjust at the camp, and then I have to attend the training again.” He loved dancing and he wanted Oishi to see the place where he has found so many new friends, and where he had grown.
“I’d love to see the place where Eiji is happiest,” Oishi grinned and nodded. Meeting Eiji’s new friends would be cool too. He agreed and then walked in silence for a while. He let his thoughts wander for a bit, thinking how lucky the boy is to have some new friends while he was stuck with none, when he heard a faint sound. “Eiji, your phone is ringing....”
“Oh yeah.” A short gaze at the display and Eijis eyes began to shine. “Tsumura-senpai~”, he said with a sweet smile. It was his most beloved senpai, “What is it?..... ah... really? Un..... un... of course. Yes I’ll definitely come. Yes thank you.....hehe. Hai.... see you then, nya”, soon he hung up again but it seemed as if he just got the best present ever. “Okay we have to go to the dance school, hehe”, he said and almost giggled.
Oishi watched as the expression changed from happy, to giddy and he pouted. Who was that? Who is that Tsurara thing that made Eiji so giggly? He suddenly felt an annoying tug in his heart. Someone was trying to steal Eiji right from under his nose. Oishi nodded and didn’t speak.
On their way to the supermarket Eiji was even more like a bouncy ball than the entire last week. He was able to spent time with Oishi, could show him his favourite place, the dance school, and he just got a message that he could get his tape from Sensei for his new routine. Everything seemed perfect. And Tsumura-senpai would be there so Oishi could meet him. “Nya what do you want with your omelet?” Eiji asked as the went into the supermarket.
“Onions, tomatoes, meat...”Oishi said rather coldly. “I want the best omelet from Eiji. Cheese would be good too.” He nodded.”Who called you?” He asked as casually as his bitter voice could say.
Eiji was a bit surprised of Oishis tone but just shrugged mentally. “Okay.... but it would be the best for you anyway”, he smiled and then went further into the supermarket to look for the things he would need. “Hm? Ah that was Tsumura-senpai he is one year older and about four years longer at the dance school than me. He attended to me when I came there the first time. Tsumura-senpai is one of the best. You’ve seen him on the DVD, he had the last solo part, it was also the longest. Someday I want to be as good as him”, Eiji babbled, “I want you to meet him in person. He is nice, and funny, and one of my best friends at the dance school. He’ll be there too when we go there later.”
“Oh is that why we have to go to the studio?” Oishi’s bitchy tone caught even him off guard. “Ah, I mean, I would love to meet him.” He sighed. He can’t be jealous. Eiji wasn’t his boyfriend- yet.
“Don’t tell me....ahahaha.” How sweet Oishi was jealous? “But no that’s not the reason. It is a nice side-effect but actually Sensei has the tapes for the new routine ready so I have to collect it from him. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to train properly.”
“Ah, I see,” Oishi calmed down a little when he heard about the tapes. It was for dance. They don’t have to stay long right? “So... your sempai, what does he look like?” He fished for information. He wanted to know if Eiji liked this guy.
“Hm? He is very tall, about one meter eighty-four, he has very long hair, like.... uhm... You remember Hyoutei’s Shishido? He had almost the same length. He has also some piercings and earrings, but he always takes them off when we train and when we perform. He’s really popular with the girls and even with the boys..... something else?”, he thought but then just smiled, “Ah what ever, you’ll see him later.” And with these words he continued to fill the shopping basket with all sorts of things.
“Eiji, what do you need the chocolate chips and peanut butter for?” Oishi checked the shopping basket. Aside from eggs and stuff, Eiji got gummies, chocolates, marshmallows and peanut butter. “You’re not putting that in my omelet, are you?”
He wanted to distract himself from the fact that the rival in question looked 1000x better than he does. And if he DID like Eiji, he would not have a chance.
“Hm? Hehe , why not? Will be delicious for sure”, Eiji laughed, “Nooo but I don’t remember saying that we would only buy stuff for your Bento. The rest is just for me” he stuck his tongue out and grinned, “but you can have some if you ask very nicely.”
Oishi chose otherwise and headed for the health food stuff. He carefully chose some tea, oatmeal and some whole grain crackers and offered them to Eiji. “I want to get some fruit and yogurt,” he declared after some time to avoid looking at Eiji. He was already shaking inside. He knew that if he didn’t do anything, Eiji would be stolen away. But how could he tell him.
“Okay, I’ll collect the rest then.” Did he say something wrong? Oishi’s behaviour was odd. Well it had been slightly odd the whole time, so ... perhaps it wasn’t anything serious. And actually Eiji felt too happy to feel really really worried about Oishi. He knew that the other boy loved him and he just had to make him confess, then everything would be alright. He would make Oishi forget the past three years, for sure.
Oishi knew he had to calm down. Being jealous unreasonably would be bad. He took deep breathes as he took his sweet time choosing grapes and apples like it was the most important thing in the world. “Get a grip of yourself, Oishi,” he scolded himself. “Eiji will not run anyway”
Or will he? He thought about the handsome senpai and pouted. “He might.”
Eiji in the mean while strolled through the supermarket and collected the last few items he needed for Oishis Bento.
“Ne....are you finished?”, he then asked, popping up behind Oishi and grinning over his shoulder.
“Ah! You surprised me,” Oishi jumped from his reverie. “Oh yeah, I am let’s go.” He said as he added his haul to the basket and smiled. “Look at us, healthy and unhealthy” He pointed to Eiji at the unhealthy part.
He wished to stay away from the dance studio longer but he knew that it would be impossible seeing that Eiji was just so eager to go. So they paid and was walking towards the dreaded studio in silence. Oishi was lost in his own jealous thoughts.
On their way to the studio Eiji became bouncier with every step he took. Soon he began to wave at some different persons and called thinks like ‘How’re you doin’?’ ‘See you next week’ ‘You look cool with that new haircut’
As they entered the studio it became even worse. Eiji seemed to know everybody and he introduced most of them to Oishi. And then... “NYAAAA TSUMURA-SENPAI”, he yelled and ran towards a handsome young man with long black hair that fell open over his shoulders. “Hey Kitty”, that man yelled back and caught Eiji as he jumped at him. “I want you to meet Oishi... come.” and with that he pulled his Senpai over to Oishi. Tsumura looked Oishi over. “Nice to meet you. I am Tsumura Kyouga, and you are the famous Oishi, I see... Eiji told us all so much about you.”
With each step Oishi felt more and more like Eiji’s shadow. As expected, everyone and their mother knew Eiji. He was just so popular that it was hard just to walk with him. Part of him was proud of it, another part was simply dying. He kept his head down as they walked and nodded when he was introduced. Yet there were no signs of the enemy yet.
Just when he thought everything was alright, Eiji launched into a run screaming like an excited cat. Oishi’s heart fell when he saw the enemy. He was 100 years behind it... even more. .... and Kitty?! Oishi all but twitched. WHAT KIND OF ENDEARMENT WAS THAT?! Only OISHI could call him that - yet he was overpowered.
Weak, Oishi.... he said to himself as he watched the love of his life fawn over another man. how can you compete with THAT
When Eiji called him over, Oishi shook his head then forced a smile. “Hi. Oishi Syuiichiro.”
Eiji didn’t notice how uncomfortable his best friend was, but Tsumura did.
“Nya... I just run upstairs and grab the tape okay?”, Eiji asked the two men. “Of course, I’m sure Oishi-san and I will have a nice conversation”, his senpai said with a loving smile and caressed Eijis cheek, before tapping him on the backside “Go before he gets angry.” “Be right back, nya”, The cat grinned and ran for the stairs. “So... your his old friend hm?”, Tsumura asked looking Oishi over again, but this time with much colder eyes.
“We were doubles pair in middle school. You may have heard of it, THE GOLDEN PAIR,” Oishi had to stake his claim on Eiji. “We are best friends.” He hated the way he just touched Eiji like that and tapped his butt. NO ONE DOES THAT TO HIS EIJI. (okay, maybe he would but not anyone else) His green eyes turned into slits and smiled.
“How about you?”
Tsumura grinned. “Oh yes he told me. He told me everything about you, but....” again that measuring look, “... Actually I was jealous that there was somebody who knew more about my Kitty... There was nothing to worry about as I see”, he laughed lightly.
“You may be his best friend, but I’m the one who will be his lover”, he stated confident. He knew just a bit longer and Eiji would be all his. He wanted that cat and he always got what he wanted.
“Not in your lifetime, Mr. Tsurara,” Oishi looked confident but deep inside he wasn’t. What holds does he have over Eiji anyway? None. But if he had a chance, he knew he has to take it. Before, it was alright. There was no apparent rivals in sight. But now, apparently, he has to move. “You might be surprised, there’s still a lot of me you don’t know. I have always been the wind beneath his wings.”
“How poetic, Einstein. And it is TsuMUra, not Tsurara”, Tsumura said coldy, “You can stay under his wings, he’ll stay in my bed in the meanwhile.”
“Nyaaaa there I am again!”; Eiji called and jumped down the flight of stairs, “And had you a nice conversation?”“Oh yes we had”, Tsumura smiled and ran his fingers over Eijis cheek again. “Cool.... you wanna see where we train Oishi? Tsumura-senpai and I can show you a part from our old routine”, Eiji suggested while he leaned against the older boy.
“Yes, a lovely conversation,” Oishi smiled but he said icily. For the sake of Eiji, he dare not bitch at the boy.
“And NO. I have some reading to do that just can’t wait. A doctor’s gotta learn, right, Eiji?” He said curtly and tugged Eiji rather roughly towards him.
Oishi patted Eiji’s hair. “You can show me dances at home,” He smiled.
Eiji was confused. What was wrong with Oishi? “Yeah I know you have much to read... but I thought you wanted to see the place where I’m happiest. At least you said that. What is wrong with you?”, Eiji asked slightly peevey.
“Oh yes really a great best friend”, was the only thing Tsumura said, “Ne Kitty, why don’t you let Mr. Doc going back to his books and we’re going upstairs to the studio and train the new choreography a bit, hm?”
Oishi glared. Control yourself, Syuiichiroh. He scolded himself. But it was to no avail. “No, Eiji, we’re going home,” the words were out of his mouth faster than he could think it. He was firm. He was angry. He can’t stand the way that lecherous man was molesting his Eiji.
“That would be co...”, but Eiji couldn’t talk further because then Oishi spit out that they would go home. He couldn’t believe what he heard. “I’m not your Child, Oishi! We’re not sharing a room! And you are not my Husband, so it isn’t up to you to decide what I do and what I don’t.”
Tsumura grinned at Oishi from behind Eijis back. He formed the words ‘Told ya, he is mine’ with his lips.
“Come Tsumura-senpai, I need some exercise now”, Eiji grumbled and wanted to turn around.
"I am saying that I WANT TO BE ALL OF THOSE AND MORE, EIJI! I can't stand you to be with anyone else. I can't stand anyone caressing you or touching you, or calling you theirs." Oishi couldn't control himself anymore and took Eiji by the shoulders and faced him he started crying as he said this. "I want to baby you like a child. I want to live with you. I want to be your morning and night. I want to be your partner. I want to be your lover. I want to be your husband. I want to love you and be with you forever! Isn't that obvious?" He couldn't believe what he said. He looked Eiji in the eye and started to tear up again. "I LOVE YOU, BAKA... BE MINE. ONLY MINE. FOREVER."
With this, he took a package from his pocket and opened the small jewelry box that revealed a pair of earrings shaped in crossed tennis rackets. He took it the matching pendant and gave eiji the earrings. " I was supposed to give you this when we won the nationals." He choked.
"If you have to pierce your ears, at least wear something of mine," he smiled. "If ... you'll have me..." He looked at the blue orbs that he loved. "I love you, Eiji Kikumaru. I have loved you all this time..."
Eiji stared at Oishi in shock. He had wanted Oishi to tell him that he loved him but... he didn’t expected such an outburst. “O...Oishi....”, he whispered, not knowing what to say. Then he felt how tears welled up. “Oishi no Baka”, he sobbed and clung on his best friend. No not his best friend, on the man he loved. “That’s the same that I want, you big Idiot. I want to be yours, I want to wake up beside you, want to fall asleep beside you...” Eiji latched onto Oishis Shirt while slightly shaking. He had known that Oishi had loved him but to finally hear how much he really loved him was overwhelming. Everything around them was forgotten. “Never ever dare to leave me alone! I wouldn’t survive a second time.”
“I’m here. I’ll never leave you... ever,” Oishi said and said no more. He just had to kiss Eiji then and there deeply and passionately as he could. All the emotions that he had in his long years of wanting finally boiled down to a single kiss. It felt good to hold him in his arms. It felt good to finally be Eiji’s boyfriend. OFFICIALLY. He forgot everything around him and just hung on. When he came up for breath, he smiled. “Now, shall we go home, my Kitty?” He said and poked Eiji’s nose.
As their lips finally met it felt like his knees would just give in. To feel Oishi so near and to know that he would never leave again was almost too much for him to handle. When they finally parted again Eiji was gasping and his heart beat as if it wanted to break through his chest. “Un, let’s go home”, Eiji said with a genuine smile. For that Moment Tsumura and everybody else was forgotten, they just didn’t matter. “I love you Oishi”, he murmured giddy.
“Yeah, we have to thank Ryoma,” He nodded as he walked with his arm proudly around Eiji then stared straight at Tsumura. “Well, we have to take our leave. My BOYFRIEND and I have lots to talk about, ne Nekomaru?” He said as he threw a haughty glance at the dancer.
“Yeah we have to... “ Eiji chuckled and looked at his Senpai too but with a beautiful smile. “Sorry senpai that it became so messy. But we can train next week, if you want.”, he said apologetic and then looked up at Oishi again. “Yeah we have... Aaaaaand I’ll make something really yummy tonight for Dinner. Something special. You can choose Syu-chan“, he chuckled.
“Don’t think that I’ll surrender just like this Oishi”, Tsumura growled, what made Eiji tilt his head in confusion. What did his senpai mean?
“Eh?” Oishi looked a little confused. Did Eiji know that he talked to Ryoma? But then he shrugged it off and chuckled at the nickname. “Syu-chan.. I like it.” He ignored Tsumura altogether and led Eiji out of the building feeling happier than he’d ever been in years.
“Hehe. Glad you like it, because I like it too.” Now he had every right to call Oishi by his first name, for they were lovers. “Buuuut.... you know that you sounded as if you wanted to propose. It’s just that you didn’t went down on your knee”, he chuckled and linked arms with Oishi, as they left the studio and went back home.
“Do you want me to do so?” Oishi teased. “And about those earrings, it matches this.” He raised a pendant and held it out to Eiji so he can put it on him. “Will you?”
“Baka” Eiji chuckled as Oishi suggested to go on his knee. But as he saw the pendant, that looked exactly like the earrings Oishi gave him he stopped short and looked up into Oishis eyes. Did he really mean... “You... you really meant that, didn’t you.... being my husband....”, he asked shyly as he took the pendant.
“You think I was kidding?” Oishi smiled and turned around so Eiji could put it on them. “I’m your husband, and your mine.” He said solemnly.
Carefully he put the necklace around Oishis neck and then turned him around to wrap his arms around Oishis neck and pull him into a passionate kiss. “I love you, so much”, he aspirated against his friends... no his husbands lips.
