Oishi loved him. That’s what Ryoma has told him. It has been three days now since he found out and he hadn’t seen Oishi much since then. Lucky, because he didn’t know what he would do if he saw the other boy.
But now he was on his way to Oishi’s Room. After he had spent some time thinking, he decided to see if he could get Oishi to tell him that he loved him. He could of course just say ‘I love you and I know you love me too because O-chibi told me’ but that wouldn’t be the right way. At least Eiji didn’t think this was the right way. So he decided that he would get Oishi to confess until Christmas. If Oishi wouldn’t say anything until that date then he would confess himself. A knock sounded through the fourth floor as Eiji knocked at the door of his best friends room.
“Haiiiiii!” Oishi just came from the shower. His hair was still dripping wet as he wrapped his nakedness with a towel. “Coming!” This is the bad thing about not having a roommate to answer the door. He was expecting a package -so he was in a hurry. He didn’t want the man carrying his precious medical books leave because he was still leisurely enjoying his bath.
He padded down the room, dripping all over the carpet and shivering as he felt the cold air-conditioning hit his wet body. “Sorry it took so long,” He said as he cracked open the door to find, not the man but his red-head dream in front of him.
“Eiji!” HOSHIT! Oishi blushed. It was weird because he knew that Eiji had seen him shower before but... it was just different now...
“Hehe, am I interrupting you? Sorry, I just thought you wanted to see the dance performance”, he smiled sheepish with a light blush while holding up a DVD. It was hard for him not to let his gaze wander. No matter what Oishi himself perhaps thought, as he stood there, still dripping he was just hot.
“And I brought some hand made cookies.”, he then said and lifted the other hand with a little metal box.
“Come in,” Oishi laughed and let him in. “Let me finish my bath and we could do that. Oh, and if the delivery guy comes, can you receive my package?” He said as he quickly returned to the bathroom to hide his red face.
Inside, he leaned against the door and panted. “What’s wrong with me?” Oishi said as he turned on the cold in the shower to cool himself down. “It’s only Eiji... no... it’s Eiji... God he’s cute.”
He couldn’t admit it. But he LOVED the man too much.
Eiji just nodded as Oishi went to the bath again. A slight blush still on his cheeks he sat down on Oishis bed. Stretching, he lay down and more or less curled up in the blankets that smelled like his beloved partner. He had looked so cute with that blush.
Oishi took his damn sweet time in the showers, almost dreading the fact that he has to face Kikumaru Eiji was there. But he knew he couldn’t stay there forever and changed and came out of the shower. His long hair wet from the shower and his face raw.
“Sorry for the wait,” Oishi smiled sheepishly at his best friend. “So... shall we?”
Eiji still lay there on the bed and lolled around. “Hm? Ah there you are”, he grinned and pointed at the package that in the mean while came and then at the DVD, that lay on the desk. “Your package came. What the hell is in there? That’s really heavy. Ah and the DVD is over there.”
“It’s medical books,” Oishi grinned as he approached the table where the books and the DVD were. He then started to set up the player on his TV and smiled at Eiji. “Why don’t you check the pantry for some snacks? I think I still have some choco-chip cookies and some chips there?”
He was feeling more comfortable now, much like his old self. Yet he couldn’t seem to look Eiji in the eye. What was it about him now? Why was Eiji being Eiji so attractive?
“Ehhhhh?” Eiji was slightly worried about Oishi. He already had so many books and he still needed more? Could that be really healthy? “Nya okay, but don’t forget my cookies”, he grinned and grabbed the choco-chip cookies. There was nothing better than chocolate.
Oishi nodded and planned to hoard them. “Grab the milk will you?” He called out to his best friend. There was nothing wrong with hanging out with his best friend. This was NORMAL right?
He watched as the red-head clambered around his kitchen and felt his heart skip a beat. Now, how did he live the last three years without this guy again? Oh,yeah... he was miserable...
“Haaaaai”, Eiji called back and grabbed the milk before heading back to his best friend and secret love. “I hope you’ll like it. I was surprised how good it looked from the auditorium”,he admitted while lying back on Oishis bed with the cookies and the milk down on the floor. “Come here, come here” he patted slightly on the blanket beside him, and signed Oishi to lie beside him.
Oishi nodded. “Alright, here we go. I get to see you goof up!” He teased Eiji.
“Oi!”, Eiji laughed and hit Oishi with one of his Pillows, “I didn’t goof up! I was really good”, he insisted but couldn’t be angry at Oishi for long. So as the other had settled next to him he snuggled up to him and smiled happy.
Oishi froze with his touch. How could he be like this? He wanted to be comfortable but he can’t. His body was tingling all over and he could barely think about the program in front of him. He shifted and sat up, reaching for the milk in the process. He has to focus. This was only Eiji anyway.
Oishi then pointed to the TV. “You look cool”
“Nya thank you. First I thought these clothes would look silly but it looks really good and the producer knew who would be best for which part. AH there, there!”, It was his solo part. The part he had created his own choreography for.
“It’s very Eiji, “ Oishi grinned. “You jump around too much.” He teased. But in truth never in his dreams could he do what Eiji does. He doesn’t even have that much confidence to speak to a crowd much less dance to it. “You’re amazing. Where do you get this strength?”
“Hey the producer was proud of me!”, Eiji pouted, but knew that Oishi didn’t mean it, “Hm sugar and training?”, he suggested at the question where he got his strength.
Oishi hit him with a pillow. “Not THAT kind of strength, silly. I know you’re born hyper. I mean confidence, real confidence. You’re so good with crowds you should be a star.”
Then again, if he was a star, would Oishi be able to talk to Eiji again?
“Ahahaha, you mean that...I don’t know. I don’t really think about it. I like dancing, that’s why I do it. It doesn’t really matter where and when, and who could be watching”, the read head laughed, “And perhaps I will be a star some day. Sensei said he wanted me definitely for his next show again.”
“You’d do great, I bet. “ Oishi couldn’t help but feel a little bitter as he said it. “Ah~! Don’t mind me. I’m just not talented at all.”
And it was true, he can’t sing. He can’t dance and even in tennis, he wasn’t that good. He was plain old Oishi.
Eiji frowned as Oishi said that. “Baka! you are talented and I’m sure you will be the best doctor Japan will ever get. And when I get injured while dancing I will insist that you’ll be my doctor.”
Oishi smiled but not that much. “Thanks for making me feel better, Eiji. But I know my limitations. I will be happy to support you all the way. “ He smiled at his friend. “I don’t even know if I’ll pass the entrance exams to Tokyo University. How can I be a doctor if I don’t pass the exams?”
“You worry too much Oishi. I’m sure You’ll pass easily”,Eiji smiled and was sure that Oishi would make it. “Nyaaaaa do you mind me staying here tonight again?”, he then asked with an innocent smile on his lips.
Oishi froze again. He had his room. he was already tense enough with him being there, but how could he resist Eiji. He nodded. “You’re already here anyway. I don’t see you having any plans to go.” He said knocking him with a pillow so Eiji couldn’t see him blush.
God, this was going to be a long ass night.
“Hehe, then it’s good”, Eiji laughed and also started to hit Oishi with a pillow. Perhaps he shouldn’t overdo it but he just wanted to be with Oishi. Even just being near him made him feel really good and he could forget a bit.
Oishi smiled and then turned to his package. “Thanks for receiving this. I’ve been waiting for this for so long.” He distracted himself by reading the back pages of the books he bought and flipping through it. “Its exactly what I need. “
He said as he put them on his desk with a smile. Then turned to Eiji who looked absolutely beautiful on his bed. He had to control himself from wanting to kiss him.
“Your welcome”, Eiji chuckled and writhed lazily on the bed, blocking it entirely. One could compare him with a cat that very moment. Just the purring was missing. “What is it?” What Books did Oishi get? Again some about the heart?
“About bones this time,” Oishi said distractedly as he opened one. “You know after the injuries we had before... I’m totally thinking about specializing in it.” he chuckled.”Its nice to know what you want even if its 100 years to early.”
“How about you, Eiji? What do you want?” he mused.
“Me? Uh I don’t know. For now I want to dance and when I’m too old for the stage I'll perhaps become choreographer”, he shrugged and stood up, to go over to Oishi and lean against him.
With a little frown he studied the Books. “Just remember not to study too hard, or you will get a bad headache, I’m sure.”
“Studying is not hard if you have focus, “ Oishi grinned then frowned. “Eiji have you turned in your paper to Ryoga sensei?”
“Hai!”,Eiji said proud. “I have done that already, no worry Oishi. But perhaps I should say it a bit different. Don’t study too much!”
“Heh?! But if I don’t study my brains will rot! I don’t want to be a baka like Eiji!” He teased and ran for he knew what was coming.
“MOU OISHI NO BAKA!!!”, Eiji yelled and ran after Oishi, laughing, and tried to catch the other boy so he could punish him properly.
“KYAAAAAA! I don’t want to get the Baka-virus!” Oishi squealed. He ran into the bathroom and closed himself in. He just wanted to escape. His presence was overwhelming and Oishi knew that if he didn’t control himself he might end up ruining a perfectly good friendship.
Get a hold of yourself, Oishi Syuiichiroh! You can’t kiss Eiji... you just can’t he stared into the mirror and scolded himself even if half his muscles were already halfway there.
“I didn’t know you were a coward!”, Eiji called through the door and tried to get in. But it was locked, “And I’m sure you have some antitoxin against the Baka-virus, right Oishi. So there is nothing to worry about.”
Oishi opened the door to find himself face to face with Eiji. INCHES APART. Enough to grab him and kiss him silly, but Oishi didn’t do that. Instead he stared him down. “You really want to test it?” Oishi dared him, his eyes narrowing sexily as he licked his lips. He put his hands on Eiji’s shoulders and drew him nearer.
What was going on? Why was Oishi so... sexy all of a sudden? Wide-eyed he looked up at Oishi. “Uh.... sure I want”, he murmured, and just hoped that, what he expected, would really happen..
Oishi Syuiichiroh resisted it with every living cell in his body, the urge to kiss Eiji was just too tempting but he wasn’t that brave. If he lost Eiji because of a simple kiss, he would kill himself. He whispered in Eiji’s ear in the most sensual way. “Well, first, I think that you are indeed very sick... and I can cure it... but before that....” He said in a breathless voice. He looked into Eiji’s eyes again and got lost in the blue orbs.
Eiji felt how his hands slightly began to shake and his breath too was unsteady. As Oishi whispered in his ear, he had to bite his lower lip to fight a pant. He also nodded as Oishi said he was sick. “What?”, he whispered breathless. What was before that? He looked up in these green seas and almost gave a damn about his intention to keep quiet until Christmas.
Oishi smiled at him and whispered again. “Your fly is open, baka!” he said letting go of Eiji and running off making a show of laughing to hide the flush that he felt. Eiji smelled so good he thought. He would give anything to do that again but Eiji would kill him. It’s better like this. It should be better like this right?
He looked back at Eiji and whispered to himself. “I love you, baka”
“....” Eiji stared at Oishi and then stared down at himself. Damn he was right... “Oishi no Baka”, he grumbled and closed his fly. Damn but he almost has forgotten himself and if Oishi would have stood there just one moment longer he definitely would have kissed him. “You’re soooo mean”, he pouted but then smiled again “I love you too, idiot”, he murmured with a grin.
Oishi was too caught up in worrying himself to hear that. If he did, he would definitely have rushed back and kissed Eiji silly. “So, bakaneko, what are we doing for dinner?” he asked to distract himself from the fluttering of his heart.
“I don’t know”, Eiji chuckled part of him sad, and another part of him glad that Oishi didn’t hear him, “Tell me what do you have and I see what I can come up with.”
Oishi was alone in the room so he really didn’t have anything apart from cup noodles and chinese food leftover, and a few eggs. He blushed. “Let’s go out. I really don’t have anything.” Oishi blushed. “GOMEN, EIJI! My treat though.”
His laugh filled the room as Oishi told him that he had nothing there. “”And what where you eating the last days?”, he asked grinning, but didn’t mind going out with Oishi. “Okay then... what should we eat then?”
Oishi blushed redder. “I had chinese food and well.. I buy sandwiches coz they’re easy to eat when I’m studying.” He admitted though he knew Eiji will get on his case. Just like the old times. “Let’s go to a family restaurant. I think I want a proper meal.” He said to make up for what he said.
“That isn’t good Oishi. You can’t live from fast food and sandwiches! Okay It is decided. I’ll make you bentos and now and then we’ll cook together”, Eiji said and then grinned, “But for now you can treat me for dinner.” With these words he linked arms with Oishi and grinned wide.
“Eiji, you really don’t have to out do yourself. I can take care of it, “ Oishi smiled shyly. Walking together like this seems very comfortable. They got to the Family restaurant without much worry. Oishi sat down and ordered his Katsudon and turned to Eiji. “What do you want?”
“I’m not out doing myself”, Eiji laughed while still clinging on Oishi. A genuine smile lighted his face and he was just happy. Now he knew that Ryoma was right, he just had to make Oishi say it right to his face, preferable with kissing him after. “Uhm.... I’m taking the same”, he smiled at the waitress.
Once the waitress was gone, Oishi stared at his friend’s face with interest. “It’s nice being together like this. It’s been quite some times since I really enjoyed myself. Thank you, Eiji-chan.”
No, that wasn’t what he really wanted to say. He looked down to his jacket pocket where a small package seemed heavy. He had bought this way back - actually, it was for him and Eiji to wear after their Nationals win. He was going to propose to him - but was afraid to be rejected. So the pendant and the pair of earrings sat in his pocket longer than expected. Could he do it? Maybe... tonight?
“Your welcome O~ishi”, he smiled really happy, “And if anybody tries to bully you again, I’ll kick his ass.” He would really do it. He didn’t want Oishi to get hurt again, neither wanted he Fuji or O-chibi to get hurt.
“I’m really happy that we’re at the same school again Oishi.... I really missed you.”
“Actually, I did too,” Oishi nodded. “But you already know that. “ He sipped water and thought a moment before speaking. “We’ve been friends for such a long time, Eiji... it’s hard to imagine life without you.”
“I don’t want to imagine life without you again. Promise that we stay together or... that we at least stay more in contact that the last three years”, Eiji said almost pleading.
“well, if you keep on bugging me like that, i bet we will be in contact everyday,” Oishi smiled. “Not that I mind though. You are my closest friend.”
It was true. He couldn’t remember a day in middle school when Eiji didn’t bug him. Either for homework, tennis, homework, his idols or whatever. He didn’t mind all of it. In fact, he wished that Eiji had done the same through out high school -- then it would have been better.
“Hehe I would be mad if I wasn’t, and I mean later on. After school... when your a Toudai and I’m.... I don’t know where I will be but I still want to be near you.”
Instead of bugging Oishi he had bugged other people in high school, but he too thought it would have been even better, when it had been Oishi instead of the others.
Oishi cocked his head smiled. “The food’s here, Eiji-neko. Let’s cheer to a life together as friends.” He choked on the last part knowing he wanted more.
“Hai let’s cheer. Friends forever!”, Eiji grinned. And even more if Oishi would finally tell him that he loved him. But there was no hurry.
