daily grind

Now that I have a job, I find myself exploring options for a second one. With my 9 hour day tomorrow ending at 4, then an appointment to interview and a math test to teach at Sylvin Learning Centers, I find myself with a slight bit of anxiety for the coming long day and the microcosim it represents. I mean, right now RL is working me full time status when they hired me for part-time, so technically I should be getting my hours cut back soon, so I have no qualms with talking with my manager about it. I also have to see what kind of pay I'll get at Sylvin. A friend of a friend gets a reported 30 bucks per hour. Sylvin however, has asked me a number of times if I'm a certified teacher, which I'm not (Math is the only subject that doesn't require a teaching cert.). So, I'm not sure if the hourly rate will be that high without the certification. Only time will tell.

In the meantime, I look ahead to a m-f, 7-4 work week. It'll be full, but I can't wait. These are the best hours since I get a full day in and I still have the rest of my day ahead of me. We have family friends coming to stay with us this weekend, so it'll be nice to have the weekend off to spend with them. Though, I will say that I kinda hope they don't make it so I can go over to SD to have a beer with Nick. It's tough when one of your friends is going through some tough times, and you can't help them through it in person. Not to mention, I haven't seen the bastard for what seems like a year. That's too long if you ask me. But, the weekend should be awesome nonetheless.

I will be going to SD on Labor Day weekend, and I cannot wait for that. It'll be nice to get out and spend some time with some friends. I love my parents to death, but they just can't cut it for a social life. So that'll be great. It'll be awesome to see James again, the ride over with John will be sweet, and Nick Zubel's sister will have turned 21, so I'll be taking the two of them out for beers (and anyone else that wants to come). I look forward to seeing the Z-man. And, rest assured... the bongos are comin' with me for this visit.

Well, with a job under my belt and another one on the way (?), it looks like this is the beginning of the end of my stay here; and THAT, my friends, is a good feeling.

Cheers.
